How sweet! Lonnie Mack was an idol of Stevie’s. I’m so happy for you that you had memories with Mr. Mack. I’m an SRV fan (more than that - his music helped me and my kids through a difficult bunch of of years) I only today learned about the enormous influence Mr. Mack had on Stevie. I should have known. This video is beyond sweet. I am a full on SRV loyalist and I am trying to discover who influenced him (beyond Wikipedia and such nonsense) I know Lonnie Mack, but I never read about the connection. SRV idolized Ronnie Mack. I miss Stevie Ray Vaughan. As my kids called him, “Stevie Rayon.” We also listened and sand to Ella Fitzgerald. They called her “Elephant Gerald.” Stevie Rayon and Elephant Gerald got my girls and I through very rough times. Thank you, Mr. Mack, for being such a huge influence on the magic that was and is Stevie Ray Vaughan. Forever indebted to you for inspiring this amazing human being. Thank you.

Sherry Baker, I guess that would mean you are also familiar with Lonnie's brother Billy Mack? I got to know Billy and play guitars with him in the last years of his life before he sadly passed on. Billy told me some great stories about Lonnie and also a little about Stevie. i remember him telling me that he wrote (or co-wrote) this particular song Oreo Cookie Blues. I am a bit of a music history student, self taught, and Billy seems to have managed to be nearly impossible to dig up any information on Billy Mack during my internet searching. according to his stories, all these other very famous guitarists like Eric Clapton and Jimmy Paige and Jeff Beck all were influenced by Lonnie Mack and i want to connect these dots. did no one ever record a video with the Lonnie and Billy playing together? i feel like it is a mystery i am trying to unravel the threads so i can connect the dots. i don't really care about the fame part, i want to see them playing the guitars and watch the fingers!!

Not sure if anyone will see this anymore, but to provide some history on this song....my old friend Mike Wilkerson wrote it. He played it for us at backyard BBQs and it was the crown jewel of his music career (where he would get occasional gigs and commercial voice overs). Mike sold the song rights to Lonnie Mack probably in the early 1980s. Mike died in 2019 of Parkinson's. God watch over his soul.

really nice to see stevie ray play an acoustic guitar, he was a true gentleman & you know he is elated to play with one of his idols. his smile exudes the "I'm not worthy".his sense of what came before him is what made his success become possible. as the old bluegrass song goes, "don't get above your raisin' & he never did" I especially liked his duet with dick dale on pipeline in the back to the beach movie.
