People trying to justify Jays actions by explaining the business of it must not understand the Culture of Hip Hop. As a Hip Hop head it's about respect. From a business aspect Jay doesn't own T any money. But from a Hip Hop aspect by not ever even acknowledging T's contribution to one of his biggest songs Jay is basically disrespecting the unwritten code of the culture, especially because T is his elder and an OG. I know Jay's entire history and all his shady ways, hell even Dame Dash recently said in an interview that Jay is essentially a culture vulture, so I'm not surprised, in fact I expect this type of behavior from raps most glorified sell out.

The problem I have is that while I was too young (and my parents didn’t let me listen it at that age) I very clearly remember Jay-Z having a story about how he came up with the idea. And it was a pretty intricate, yet cut and dry, explanation. This doesn’t take from Jay-Z’s talent, but it shows that if someone else can’t prove it, he will run with the narrative if it is right or wrong. He could have simple said, “Yo Ice T knows, I got 99 problems….” The song is obviously from Ice-T. Jay needs to pull him up and give him respect.

Jayz does this habitually. Most people don't realize how many Biggie lyrics jay used-just flat out appropriated. I would say probably 5% of all of his lyrics and (This is the important part) a VERY large percentage of his good lyrics are biggie's. He likes to say he's "just paiyng homage" but he KNOWS that most people will never know unless they grew up on B.I.G. .Then real manipulation comes in because jayz goes out of his way to say biggies lines with a particular conviction that suggests they are his own. Jayz has taken an album 's worth of biggie lyrics during his career.
