This was just after he was first sober. It was his first time EVER writing, recording sober, or performing sober ... He's in interviews claiming to not remember writing or recording the majority of his records prior to this, and receiving none of his grammy's or other awards, or performing at any of his concerts, just bits and pieces here and there and that's it, he was literally always loaded from his first album all thr way until relapse. Relapse to now in 2022 have all been sober Eminem. Relapse was written while he was in rehab, that's why it's so dark.... that and he watched a lot of horror movies and murder documentaries. With how long he was on drugs and then went into detox and rehab, I'm surprised he wasn't even crazier on this album. He was high every day on pills, mostly Valium and Hydrocodone (Vicodin), Valium if you take enough you'll forget everything from the time it kicks in yo the time you wake back up or come to, I woke up in jail after a car wreck not remembering anything from that day... I took 20mg of Xanax. Half a mG is enough for most people, I got up to 20+MG at once, it got really bad. After my wreck I got some sense knocked into me and quit cold turkey, which is extremely dangerous. Benzodiazapines such as Xanax or Valium can actually kill you, only other drug that can do that is alcohol. I had shakes, not like alcohol shakes but my muscles would twitch and spasm, it felt like electricity going through my entire body starting from my head down to my toes. I'd get jolted awake at night like someone stuck my finger in a light socket, I even had a few seizures and rode them out, i didn't tell anyone about them. The electricity feeling lasted for like 3 months, seizures lasted a month or two snd I'd have them atleast once every couple days.. but it took 6 months or more to stop feeling all the withdrawal symptoms, in some cases it can take a year if not more. Xanax is an extremely long last withdrawl, unlike opioids or other drugs that are just a few days. Xanax literally changes your brain structure. All i can say is it was gnarly, probably the most gnarly thing ive been through and thats coming from a retired pro freestyle motocross rider with over 30 broken bones and almost as many surgeries, including 4 fused vertebrae in my neck and back... which is why i retired i couldn't do it anymore and i ended up replacing that feeling i was missing with drugs, i didnt know what to do without that lifestyle. Now I found my new passion that gives me something similar, which is skydiving and it's a whole lot easier on my body lol. Sorry for the rant 😅

im a lil dissappointed stevie. Eminem is completely sober since the recordings of Relapse until this day. The only exception is Beautiful and careful what you wish for. Some of the first two verses he wrote during the encore era. If you mean his Fox Interview in 2013 to promote MMLP2 he wasnt intoxicated at all. He was just being stupid with the berzerk face. i still cant get my head around it that some people and the media believed that he was high as a kites. To Stans it was so obvious.
