Remember, Jeremy's squid is a malfunctioning one. Other squid don't really try to spread themselves. I think that Jeremy's equip genuinely wants to help everyone, and genuinely thinks that they've helped Jeremy and would help others. The line "If this is what we do" illustrates this perfectly. If he was created to help people, he should as many as possible.
