Factually incorrect. At the Islamic Art Museum in Kuala Lumpur, there are several portraits of Muhammed painted in old Ottoman religious publications. Just like there periods of Christianity where images of Jesus were banned too, look for Iconoclast. But apart from that you're 100% correct.
@sandstorm1667Күн бұрын
@@vernonrabbetts not sure l agree with you there. I have lived in Malaysia and also visited the same KL museum many many times over the past 20 years- it’s one of my favourite places. I’ve never seen a painting, picture or drawing of the Prophet Muhammed even amongst the visiting exhibitions. Malaysia is very strict and monitors such things carefully, and would never allow it as it’s forbidden in the Islamic world to make an image of the Prophet. I’m sure there would be a social uprising in the country. It’s quite possible that what you think is Muhammed is actually a painting of an Ottoman king.
@vernonrabbettsКүн бұрын
Well, that would be an assumption on my behalf on a subject which is contentious. So I remembered to read the descriptions which were helpfully shown in Malay, and English, can't remember if they were in Jawi too. However, visual representations of the prophet are shown in much Persian literature, especially depicting the Miraj when he ascended to heaven on Burak. There is also another famous representation in the Edinburgh Codex, the Khamah of Nizami and others.
