MARRIED IN THE CHURCH
Episode 5 [part 2] of 5: Declaring a Marriage Invalid and the Annulment Process (part 2)
In many cases, a Catholic who is divorced wishes to remarry in the Catholic Church. First, however, they need to be declared free to marry. This will require addressing the situation of their previous marriages.
There are two ways to have a marriage declared invalid. One process involves a declaration of invalidity due to lack of form. This process is for those who are Catholic or married a Catholic but did so outside of the Catholic Church. The other process is commonly called an "annulment" or the formal trial/formal marriage tribunal case. This involves examining a previous marriage and seeing if there may have been something necessary that was lacking to make the marriage a truly valid marriage according to the understanding of the Catholic Church. In this video we discuss the steps to pursue each process. This is part one of Episode 5. The episode is a continuation of part one.
