I absolutely love The Beatles. I was listening to "Don't Let Me Down" and was wondering how I would Jam on it. After researching, I found a video of John Mayer and Keith Urban doing a cover at the Crossroads Festival. After jamming on it myself, I took a look at what I was doing and what they were doing on guitar. So here is a look at some of the possibilities to improvise with The Beatles. Hope you enjoy!

Great song choice for study, great video. I've been playing songs using tabs for many years and can hit all the notes on the page but have never really understood WHY those were the notes that were put in the song other than 'it's in the scale I guess'. Hell, most the time I didn't even bother to pay attention to which notes they actually were, just finger/fret combos. Over the past few months I've been really devouring the content at your channel (and others) on targetting chord tones, CAGEd, triads, all that great stuff. I finally see the guitar neck really opening up with new possibilities for the first time in many, many years. Thanks!

Great video and some great fertile fields to have a go at :) I know the pentatonic always sounds good, but I still often find myself trying to play *exactly* what you play, just to help improve my own phrasing, to have confidence in what I'm making up. Could you do a video on this very topic? Just some basic ideas, like runs of x notes, 2 steps forward, 1 step back etc. are any bends better than others? etc. An "in the mindset of Stich" if you will, when you're just improvising.

@@seano2176 So glad to know it's not just me, I get the whole "pentatonic always sounds good", but there's still obviously a lot of skill involved, and experience, to know what *really* sounds good, or at least just some tried-and-true little runs.
@seano2176

@@robbrown2789 absolutely Rob! I feel like I'm getting better at it but people like Ian make it look so easy and natural. As you suggest, a few tips on how to make the most out of those 5 notes would be so welcome!

Thank you for being such a talented teacher and musician. One quibble: "Don't Let md Down" has more than the three chords you mention. (F#m, F#7m and E.)Listen for the AMaj7 in the chorus, the F#m/B in the verses and the B and B7 in the chorus. Cheers.

Hey, Stitch! Do you have a video on how to come up with lead melody parts for any song? I watched your recent blues video on combining different rhythmic elements to make a lead part, but how do you do it for other styles? By the way, I really enjoy your videos, and they are helping me to understand music fundamentals!

Great video! One thing I need to practice is staying in time when there is only a backing track of drums or a metronome. How do you practice soloing/improvising while keeping in time with the chord changes. I guess you could loop the chords then include a part without the chords. Just looking for some practice tips. Thanks.
