Confessing that he's surprised he's still alive after a life of risk-taking that continues to this very day, Stickman reflects on death: "When it's your time, it's your time. Death doesn't scare me. I'm not worried about karma. When I'm dead I'm dead, so it is what it is." The formerly imposing frontman, now a lean mean blue collar machine, approaches life "Day by day, cheque by cheque. I have no regrets, no remorse. I've apologized to certain people for certain mishaps. I'm gonna be here for a while."
We then get to discussing his lifestyle at present time, at which point he tells us something he has not been shy to promote on social media in the past...he's a vegetarian, much like one of the grandfathers of NYHC, John Joseph of the Cro-Mags, who is similarly vegan. "I was a meat and potatoes dude, but now I can't believe I used to eat that crap. I feel healthier."

the one 4 one guys were fucking with me and my band at a show at casino skate park in Asbury, back in like 1997, I was 16-17...and Stik Man recognized me n my boys from other shows and stepped in and put the squash on that... motherfuckers used to swing from the pipes at the Stone Pony (til they broke) when these guys played. Respect Stik Man,

@Rick Healey Dude, you've become more irrelevant than anyone in the hardcore scene ever. After seeing the human trash you've become in time, I can't even stomach listening to 25 ta Life before Stikman joined. You might have started that band, but the "realest" 25 ta Life I know and love doesn't even involve you. I saw you with 25 ta Life at so many shows in the 90s, and I even looked up to you back then. I've bought hundreds of dollars worth of records and merch from you. You had a scene in the palm of your hand and many people that respected you. What happened to you? Why did you choose to fail us, and most importantly, why did you fail yourself by becoming a white supremacist scumbag? Your hatred needs to be stomped out of this world just like your meth induced down syndrome face.

My favorite hardcore band along with Neglect. Although both bands have lots of metal elements. I was so fortunate to see James/Stickman fronting Fury at the BnB Bowl in 2015. They sounded great. Also saw them in Asbury Park back in their heyday. Craziest show I ever witnessed. People swinging from pipes with ski masks and swinging barstools in the pit. Hope there will be a proper reunion one day. I find some parallels with one of my favorite thrash bands in the bay area band Vio-lence. Both bands have such a voracious fanbase and intensity that is unmatched by their peers. They both also hit quick and made a large impact for their brief and short lived time in music. Another common thing they both have is that they each have an incredible "underground" song that is a setlist/fan favorite that only came out in demo/7" form. One of Fury's best songs is "Taste The Steel" and Vio-lence has a song called "Paraplegic" that they will still play live today. Neither song has ever been included in an full album.

Much respect to Stick and all the bro's in NJ and Philly. My cousin and I played that fury demo tape till it broke. Where I'm from, Fury was too hard for the mainstream and got disrespected by a lot of "cool guys " in the actual scene but most of those type of dudes seemingly influenced this whole "hipster" thing. ..so fuck whatever they were talkin about.

Fury of five put jersey on the map? If u say so. They must have put jersey on the map when Metallica covered a few of thier songs and wore their shirts eveywhere. Now they are having huge reunion shows at the prudential center in Newark. Nobody thought fury of five would ever get back together but the singer and bassist made up. Yup when people think of jersey they think of fury of five.

real shit a handful of bands, in early 1990's Gutwrench, Chokeslam, Blind Society, Life of agony, Merauder, sick of it all, biohazard, and fury of V were the only hc bands to reach the top level they could at that time ion the early 90's, they did put dirty jerz on the map, and rep asbury park nj, hard just like v.o.d repped long islang and reps suffolk county ny hard .Fury of V , gutwrench, and etown concrete had the biggest influence and fury was among first of bands that defined njhc adoing their thing at that level in the early 1990s hc band. Fury paved way for lotta bands e-town concrete , nj bloodline and shitload of njhc bands Lifeless, etc. whether you like trheir music or not Fury of Five and Vision of Disorder were the only bands doing their thing in hc since early 1990s, fury from Asbury Park,Nj, and tim and v.o.d. are from long island, so yea Fury of V did put nj/punk and hc scene on map and jersey, hip hop is connected to njhc. because it comes from same environments and alotta similar topics as violent rap music.. six degrees of separation, etc....nyC-Orange 9mm puerto Rican mikey-Skarhead, Crown of Thornz NYC, God Forbid-NJ--i could do this forever-to Rap-Nj-Husssein Fatal and Kadafi . Kherk Cobaine, O-Solo,l Albee Al, Poor Righteous teachers, Lords of The Underground, motherfucking Treach and Vinnie from E.O., Ice-T- from the bricks originally.Body-Count-Ice-T and Ernie from -L.A.a Cats-ee a pattern.?Nj-Redman, Chokeslam-NJ, . those still Livingmembers of The Outlawz-- Young Noble, Edi, Napolean, lotta people dont like dude because he probably beat their ass back in the day, or they heard he just a dick who beat people up, you dont hear about times he helped kids at shows in asbury park out. Stikman saw a young fan alone at a show outside a venue by the boardwalk in asbury park, nj, He stopped a kid fom getting jumped. James/Stikman stepped in before 4 or 5 people could jump n roll on this person who never saw it coming. N he mashed all of em at once,,as he saw it unfold right b4 it was about to go down, and was not gonna let a fan of Fury get banged on like that., that's a stand up dude. FURY of V rep Nj hard and did alot for dirty jerz. and did a lot in helping to create NJHC style/sound, and paved the way for hella bandsafter them. If anyone disrepected NJ of Fury of V they got f$cked up quik. .Sometimes you have to give respect when its due, and fury of five have earned it.Theyre an iconic great band from NJ , and they did it before most other Nj bands, and they did it differently, paved way for, NJ bands like E-town Concrete, God Forbid, NJ Bloodline, Clubber Lang,, Blind Society, Lifeles,, and created a style of eastcoast NJHC that was new and different along with V.O.D. from Long Island. NYC.before,.,Those 2 band sat that exact timeand other events helped to create a new genre-NJ-NY-hardcore -subgenre style= -V.O.D. and NY bands, from Long Island, and Queens NYC, and Brooklyn, NYC and fFury and Murphys Law, and handful of other early 90's njhc bands created a new style of hardcore- defined as east coast hardcore.rooted in nj, nj and philly, Ct, Massachusetts, .without tFury of V there would be no Hatebreed, etc. that's how influential they are..

HAHA what a clown. I remember FoF when they first came out. Someone threw a bottle at him at a show at the old Avalon Skatepark in NY. He stopped the show and said we aren't going to play one more song unless whoever threw that bottle steps up like a man and we all started clapping cause they were so terrible., They def got better but when they first came out they sucked much like Stiks rapping. I didn't think anyone could possibly be worse than Ezec but Stikman is! Props on the section 8 sample in the beginning. They were one of the few upstate bands that could give Stigmata and All out war a run for their money.
