I'm a descendant of several Confederate soldiers, as well, (in my case, from both Georgia and Alabama) plus I used to be a cavalryman reenactor way back in the early 1990's so this song hits close to home on several levels.

The leaps of joy at the end were the only thing wrong with this mourning and deeply mournful song and were totally consistent with the otherwise very elegiac and sensitive handling of it.
