As someone who does off-road tires as a job ill tell you that dot isnt going to do much. line it up if possible but it does not HAVE to line up, in fact sometimes its worse and you have to flip the tire around. that marks i believe the first harmonic. the red one does the second (or vice versa). sometimes red and yellow are right next to each other so i balances like shit anyway.

just dont buy cheap tires and you're fine.
@LiteBrite

I think we will stick to listening to the people who make the tires. As you can see from the balance it took there is nothing wrong with them. A 40” tire on heavy beadlocks only needing 2.5oz is pretty damn good

I understand, but you also have your dually on them, you trailer tires are commercial grade then there’s the foster child....you have a relationship with them and it’s obvious. I’m not trying to be rude by any means. Im speaking as someone who balances off-road tires ALL day lol several sets a day. 31s to 42s lol hell we got 54s delivered the other day. All I’m saying is the dot isn’t that important. I do tires and wheels for the largest off-road shop and supplier in the country. I’ve had tons of milestars that don’t balance out no matter where you put them. As well as other tires. Once you get to a 40 like yours it really doesn’t matter. (Assuming your wheel is straight) It comes down to how they’re manufactured. You had two that didn’t balance out that well. I’ve had tires ask for 125oz before. I’m simply saying that when you said “IT HAS TO LINE UP” isn’t accurate because when it comes to off-road tires it really doesn’t matter.

I rolled the dice on Black Labels when I stumbled upon them on Northridge. Now I've ran Trepadors & Pitbulls in the past so that might have something to do as far as expectations but even after 5k and burning off all the residual releasing agent they put in the mold they never felt broken in...and I'll just leave it at that because God forbid I say anything that sounds even remotely close to negative about the Brand I'd have the Patagonia army light me up in the comments. I will say this, I don't think East Coast terrain was part of the R&D of this tire. Those 43" Bajas that Hollie's running...now that's a stickie! MM is arguably the baddest ass build amongst all the KZbin Jeep all-stars.
@LiteBrite
@LiteBrite 4 жыл бұрын
What pressure do you run? And yes east coast is loose and wet. The voids aren’t large enough for that ESPECIALLY when comparing to a trep or pitbull, those are dedicated hard core mud tires. These are a hybrid mud/all terrain and do not do well in thick mud and in loose stuff you better be running 6-7 psi or they aren’t going to do much.

JeepΦJeep they really are 2 completely different tires. Even if they weren’t marketing partners with milestar, their black label really is a better fit for their lifestyle and how they prefer to use their Jeep. In all fairness, my tires would disintegrate in a few months with the amount of pavement the stepchild sees. From what I’ve seen, these are an improvement offroad from what they were running. That’s how I try to think about it at least! 👍🏻

@@LiteBrite From the day they started using Milestars I think they proven these tires are literally getting them up places other "brands" other people were using couldn't Go watch all of their videos from the start Like I have and you will see. I have BFG's on my jeep but when I upgrade I will be getting Milestars. People in the Jeep club I'm with use all different kinds of brands but many use these tires and get better results.

I ran 35" patsagonias on my jeep and loved them, but they did not balance well at all. Only one of the 5 tires required less than a pound of weights. Now I'm running 37" nittos on beadlocks and chose to balance with airsoft BB's and they're always perfectly balanced even beyond 100mph. I really like the beads so if you guys are curious if they actually work, I'm really happy using them!

I run the Patagonia ATs on my XJ and for the price they are hard to beat. For 235 75R15 they're like $80/tire and have great traction off road and in snow and good on road manners. I usually get ~30,000-40,000 miles per set. They do have pretty poor wet pavement traction once they are below 50% tread though.

@Daveinet
@Daveinet 4 жыл бұрын
I think when there is too little air, the center of the tire becomes concave and doesn't grip. I also think when the tire has too much conformity, you get to a point where knobs on the tread don't stay planted. They fold up away from the edges on the rocks and loose their bite. When you compared 7 psi to 9 psi, it looked like it did better at 9 psi. I'd like to see someone come up with a test to see the contact patch under torque, just before the tire looses traction. There is likely a point where the tread doesn't stay flat against the surface do to torque twisting the knobs.
@MischiefMakerTV
@MischiefMakerTV 4 жыл бұрын
Daveinet definitely agree. It took some serious time to get our usual running tire pressure right once the tires were properly broken in. 10 front and 8 rear is typical, but I’ve spent 30 minutes attempting a climb and then inflated the rear to 10 and climbed right up. It’s amazing the difference a few pounds of pressure can make! 😀👍🏻

With the black labels, not really. They aren’t as sticky as competition tires (which yes, could potentially cause breaks if you aren’t careful in how you drive or built for it).

Dusty Trailz luckily the JL has a MUCH better stock cage than the JK did. The mods on these Jeeps have our Jeeps at 7000# plus dry weights 😅 & I’d still prefer a full cage replacement and 5 point harnesses, but it’s all personal preference. Yes, the cage is Genright and was customized to my spec at TNT Monster Trucks in New York (where we used to live). About the stickies, I’d definitely agree with Brittany and say it depends on the compound. I’ve seen my tires (which are probably closer to a comp tire in terms of softness) break a junkyard one ton axle and wreck some gears - especially people who don’t know how to treat the skinny pedal 😬

Omg I used washers when I did mine about 3 years ago cause I couldn’t keep the bead on and would get about 3/4 around and the other end would pop off. 😂 Those tires seem to be really sticky. I drive to much to justify getting them . If I trailered would really look into them. Sry Brittney but the snake was funnier then shit! 😂🤣
