I still know nothing about the blade other then that its got some new carbon gimmick and five layers of wood, that Dan's sample is 93 grams and that Dan and FZD are both high level players. But since they're high level, they can make any equipment look good. How thick is the blade? How hard does it feel? What are the dimensions of the head and handle? How stiff is it? How springy does it feel? How is the blade balanced? Is the sweetspot thing actually true? What kind of rubbers will suit it, and what kind of players will enjoy it?
@mrmr1964
@mrmr1964 9 жыл бұрын
What an honor to hit with FZD. Looks like he hardly got out of 2nd gear ! The blade sounds amazing, but 93gr against my Andro Super Core Carbon Light @ 68gr, makes it look like a boat anchor. Pity they can't get the same result with a below 75gr blade - and if they did I'd buy it.
@Rusiputki
@Rusiputki 9 жыл бұрын
mrmr1964 You will never have a true offensive blade when it comes to 75g. Unless somebody designs a specific rubber which then will be heavy, I don't see it happening. Table tennis equipment is all about compromise, you can't have the best spin and the top speed.
@SteveSoper1979
@SteveSoper1979 9 жыл бұрын
TTD conclusion, FZD is really good. :p still not sure how he pulls off that over the table backhand flip with that closed blade vs backspin. Someday I hope to learn that shot. Keep up the good work.
@TableTennisDaily
@TableTennisDaily 9 жыл бұрын
I agree Steve, his backhand flick is sensational. It was really confusing me when I was playing with him how he managed to flick the serve with such ease!
@SteveSoper1979
@SteveSoper1979 9 жыл бұрын
TableTennisDaily Sure FZD can do it about as good as anybody but I've seen you and Tom do it also. Maybe if you're ever up to it, put up a separate video on what you look for when you do it. Sometimes I'll see players like FZD or ZJK still push serves. So it makes me question, do they push pure backspin and flip everything else? Or can they flip pure backspin also. If so, how do they not put that ball in the net. Anyways, a nice tutorial video on what you look for would be nice. Just a thought. thanks.
@lgeiger
@lgeiger 9 жыл бұрын
His wrist action is so fast, that he can close the blade against low backspin balls. And I think you're right; for me it's way harder to flip pure backspin than shots with a slight amount of sidespin. The reason for his wrist action is of course his great muscle speed, but also his technique. As you can see, the blade's tip is pointing down at the table in a right angle before he executes the flip shot. Just before impact he turns his wrist more than 90° which creates a longer way for the racket to accelerate. Most people I have seen only use 45° when they are flipping even at semi professional level.
@Rusiputki
@Rusiputki 9 жыл бұрын
Notice how top players don't fuck around with blocking and just return top spin with top spin. TTD Conclusion, Fan Zhendong was unable to give Blocking rating therefore dropping the overall to 5/10 for this blade huehuehue
@raikiro797
@raikiro797 3 ай бұрын
@@SteveSoper1979 It's less about whether or not they're able to flick the serve but rather which shot will catch their opponent off-guard the best. If you flick for 100% of your receives, they'll start to anticipate it and position themselves to attack the flick. The short push is to stop them from being able to guess your receive while also stopping them from attacking hard. Being able to do this well is what separates the pros from the amateurs.

Steve,some players have a really flexible wrist and body and can do all sorts of shots with ease.Michael Maze quickly comes to mind. The other 90% of us have to work really hard to achieve a half decent banana flick. One of my students can spin them at will and can hit an amazing backhand loop at great speed and spin from almost anywhere on the table.His wrist looks like soft rubber,when i try it, it feels like my shoulder wants to snap out of it's socket. Am so jelous of those wristy guys they make it look so easy.
@guywhodoesstuff1798
@guywhodoesstuff1798 7 жыл бұрын
I see this is an old post, but I`d like to point out that no one is "naturally wristy". They worked on their technique - you can`t just start playing and do a good backhand flip. It doesn`t matter how fast and fit I am, I am not as good at soccer as Cristiano Ronaldo is.

We are in a completely new century of technology. Durable carbon fiber tennis table, carbon fiber ping pong balls and rackets should be developed for this worldwide popular sport. What about microfiber fleece net and some red/black variable microfiber sponges, both sides adhesive for thin, transparent, re-spray-able silicon for gripping layered on light weight, elastic rubber top sheet rackets?

Sigh... looking back on this i think stiga shouldn't have pushed to get fan zhen dong as their sponsored player. There's tons of sites saying he's using a viscaria they "customed" so that it would have a stiga handle. And I think now since he's no longer stiga sponsored he's now just using an actual viscaria?
