Stihl 041 28" bar

Nice early Stihl 041av electronic, must be one of the first electronic saw stihl ever made... late 60's early 70's. New 28" bar and new stihl chain. Cant believe it pulled it... its not fast but its got some balls.
First run after getting it back together, picked up as a non runner, carb clean, fresh fuel, new intank filter...

Would never have expected an 041 to be able to pull a 28. Biggest I’ve ever seen on one was 20”. Got three 041’s and an 041 AV. One of the 041’s was my grandfather’s. He bought it new. Still runs great!

I'm running a 24" on my 041. Cuts great. 041's run 11,000 rpm full speed, they can handle the longer bar.

I also run a 28" on my 041 AV, I am running full skip full chisel currently but I've run a full comp as well and it pulls great!

Sounds like it has some comp. The note cleaned up nicely when it was deep in that log.

Hi, I didn't check the final carb settings, I usually set the low screw so the throttle response is crisp and the saw will idle its way through a full tank if left long enough... high screw is started at factory settings and then tuned for a 4 stroke burble with no load which clears up under load, the setting in the vid is probably a bit on the rich side... takes a fair bit of load for the 4 stroking to clean up. Safe that way though and it pulled pretty good so I didn't bother messing with it... cheers.

Stihl saws use AV to denote anti vibration features, such as rubber or spring buffers. The farm boss model also seems to have no AV, making it cheaper to manufacture. An AVE saw in addition to having AV buffers also has electric ignition rather than points. As previously stated the super is 72cc whilst the rest are 61cc. There's also the 041 G which is gear driven.

@@943ayep_3 give it a shot, I wasn't expecting it to pull 28"... goes quite nicely though. Ill have another vid of the same saw up shortly.. ive done some light porting and base gasket delete, turns out the saw has a Gilardoni cylinder not Mahle. Don't know if its OEM from back then but it sure runs nice and the quality is excellent...
