Awesome build!, did you have to go with longer cylinder bolts using the 660 cylinder

I looking forwarded to seeing it cut! whats the reason that you don't want to polish the transfers? thanks

@@JandSChainsaw Yup, this is advocated by both Jennings' & Blairs' books on 2-stroke performance (Blair calls it 'cleaning out the dingleberries' ROFL, true beavis&butthead throwback right there!) There's definitely reason to want it "fully flattened & perfect" but insofar as "should you finish it at 100grit, or 500+ grit smoothness?" isn't something I can find hard answers on, many share your thinking of "fuel puddles" (and it *does*) but at the same time a rough surface automatically creates eddying of the charge(slower movement of the near-wall portion of the charge), I've yet to find any actual "this is the right level of roughness" for intake/transfer tracts, my instinct is that it should be in the 100-180grit range if one were just using sandpaper to finish, which I actually do a lot IE finishing my ports by-hand, I like leaving the last ~5% for hand-files & sandpaper, really ensure everything's symmetrical & on-point (just finally finished my big bore, came in nearly perfect at 99//81//125 squishing under 24.5thou and over 1.25mm before-freeport!)

Couldn't you fill in the elongated holes with an apoxy or aluminum filler just to ensure seal of cylinder and crankcase.

VERY neat video!! You mention these 56mm piston-skirts NOT fitting the crankcase- you *sure* about that? I'd bought a pair of these 56mm kits (true cheapies, not Hyway/etc although my 54mm hyway jug is by far the nicest I've seen "off shelf") expecting & planning "That 56mm slug isn't gonna fit the case, but that's fine because I was already doing case porting to this unit", but then I received my 56mm kits....did you measure yours? The piston-skirts are 78 thou short, so you don't have to do the crankcase porting, I initially thought "well that is totally moronic, the intake duration is over 200deg on this thing" with the 56mm 1.160" pistons, but then realized that it's 1-or-the-other: crankcase porting, or simply JB-Welding the intake to whatever you choose, to match the shorter piston or go further, plus it's not like that prevents you from still porting/flowing the crankcase, and the pistons are lighter although they can't be machined as they seem to come like 5-30thou from free-porting out of the box! BUT, considering their comb.chambers are actually smaller than a 54mm's - by over 11% actually - the compression-ratio is already jacked-up on these jugs, if you wanted to put a pop-up in I'd bet that your compression is just around where you'd be aiming for w/ machining! Very interested to hear where this went, video being 1.5yrs old now is a good yardstick to hear how this unit turned-out, will check your library hopefully you've put an update but if not I'd be eager to hear all you could share on how this worked-out!! (PS the #'s on mine were initially awful like yours, I think I'm settling at exhaust to 148duration, intake came out at 158.5deg duration after JB'ing it and moving it 50% upwards lol, high compression, 10thou off the flywheel key and 8-pin sprocket, custom airbox custom muffler setup & heat-shield, gah I'll save it for the vid I'm gonna make on it ;D)

These were the very early 064 cases and most defiantly have to be opened up the later 066 and 660 cases dpnt
