I have been using a peavey in my log yard and just love it. the long handled hookaroon and the peavey are my go to tools for moving longer log. I have a short handled hookaroon more like a pulp hook I use if I'm splitting firewood.. Thanks for the good tips in your video.

I have two hookaroons. The one I use for moving bigger logs is a 36 inch Dixie. Kind of heavy but solid and well built. I also have a 14 inch one made by the Peavey manufacturing co. Just love the little one for working around the log splitter.

They definitely make life easier! Another great help Stihl and many others make is called a hookaroon or pickaroon. Theyre typically used in a sawmill type setting for moving boards/slabs but they work great and really save the back when splitting. Just smack the end or pick/hook in to the cut end and lift. No more bending over for hours at a time! Thanks for sharing another fun video.

Just ordered one at my local Sthil dealer. $113 b4 tax and $10 oh well. This suckers getting engraved and going into the work truck. The perfect solution to rolling big logs.

Very informative review, thank you! Looks like this cant hook has the capacity to handle the big chunks that I get from tree service outfits and saw into firewood.

AND to make it even more useful, buy and attach a Logrite log stand to raise the log up off the ground so your chainsaw won't go into the dirt.

Stihl makes a log stand for this cant. $40 and easy add on. Just so y’all know.

John, thanks for using the proper safety gear. Set a good example. Even though I just mover to Florida for "good", I will still watch your video's. No more wood/oil for me. AC is on, just have to pay electric bill. No problem. No longer a resident of "the formerly great State of Connecticut" (Wolcott). Just sign me no longer taxed to death (the bowzer).

Great video. Thanks. It answered a lot of my questions about the differences between a peavey and cant hook, and some concerns about length. Stihl offers both in lengths of 40", 48" and 60". After seeing the leverage you got with the latter, that seems like the way to go. Take care and thanks again.

Hello great video on the Stihl axe and Splitting Maul. Got the axe glad I did. I’m getting 60” Peavey or Can’t hook what do you think?

I like the 48" 'cause it's easier to carry on my ATV.

Sir my back is killing me moving logs that are 25 " or more not sure ... Getting very tired of bending over and using my muscle to get down and try rolling and throwing my back out... Are those about $200 I think ?

If your still cutting those huge logs you might want to look into maybe a ms440-460 that's were you get into the professional saws from Stihl or maybe one of the higher 300s
@alan3018911 жыл бұрын
Be careful using the tip of that chainsaw. It's better not to touch the log with the tip because of the hazard of kickback and having the saw hit you in the face or the shoulder. And, believe me, it's a very strong kickback. Many chainsaws have a tip guard for that reason.
@kivaswander55375 жыл бұрын
kickback ain't that bad if you have wrists

Tip guards are almost always on box store brand saws. Just saying.

The peavey or cant hook in not a guy. Definitely a lady, as she works her way around the outside circumference of the big wood, having her way with it. She is a naughty dominatrix on the sadist side of the s and m due to the spikes and tough demeanor. That's what you get for assigning gender to a noun in the English language. You should know better. Just think of this comment before you call something "this guy" again! Ha Ha!

these tools are made buy logrite not stihl. fyi
@mikewest313910 жыл бұрын
then why not buy a log rite? if anyone ask about your nice logging tool would you tell them it was made 45 minutes up the road then rebranded and marked up? I considered buying the stihl just for the visibility of the orange. but I try real hard not to have those five letters on my tools. and the rebranded stihl cant hook cost more.
