I modified the air filter to take a hight flow pod filter & upgraded the old 250 clutch with the 361 springs, removed the limiting screws of the carb & retuned the saw!. I use the saw everyday for felling trees & it’s a grate reliable mid range saw with plenty of power!. For maximum performance of any engine when you upgrade the exhaust depending on the out flow, it’s always beneficial to match the inflow!!.

Have you or anyone actually dynoed before and after to see if there is actually a difference? Or does it just make them louder?
@RidgeOutdoorProductions Жыл бұрын
No, no dyno. You have to adjust the carb afterwards. Believe me, it makes a difference. Cut through a piece of wood much quicker after this mod is completed.

@falco5616 Жыл бұрын
do you think it would be any different just removing the baffle ?
@RidgeOutdoorProductions Жыл бұрын
You cannot remove the baffle because when you go to reassemble the muffler it will smash upon tightening it.
@vart7767 Жыл бұрын
@@RidgeOutdoorProductions yeah you can just put two pieces of copper tubing or steel tubing in place of the baffle and it will tighten up without smashing.
@RidgeOutdoorProductions Жыл бұрын

Did you test the RPM of the saw before and after, or for that matter the "state of tune" of the engine?
@RidgeOutdoorProductions8 ай бұрын
Yeah you can test rpm before and after. Adjust the carb into your liking as it will need adjusted with the muffler mod.
@37yearsofanythingisenough3911 ай бұрын
Just get a piece of steel tubing from a hardware store and cut off 2 lengths the same length as the stand offs built into the internal baffle, and epoxy them, over a set of holes, and once set up reassemble the muffler. In that way there is the most exhaust flow possible along with no cutting and filing. The first time use will burn the glue off and they will be trapped by the screws. Also make sure you discard the spark arrester (or “or” your choice) as these carbon up with time and sell more chainsaws with the owner believing the saw to be worn out, than any other reason for sales.

@@RidgeOutdoorProductions I’ve been looking for a way to do this kind of muffler mod for my MS250 without having to cut the muffler apart.
@StihlRunnin8 ай бұрын
@@stevenkinnison8044 What I did was bought a second muffler, hogged out a hole in the can right below the existing louvers and welded a 3/4” 90° section of pipe facing down and away from the dogs of the saw. It runs GREAT. The saw no longer cooks the plastics, hopefully keeping heat away from the crankcase which is just below the muffler. The carb had to come rich a little but due to our altitude that needed done anyhow, manual suggests a quarter turn richer for every 3000ft elevation gain.
@joeblow193415 күн бұрын
@@stevenkinnison8044 I just watched a video about a 250 muffler mod. The man just put the muffler in the vise, took a propane torch and heated up two sides (at a right angle.) Then he pried the seam up. Done the mod. Then put it back together and pounded the seams back down and into place.

Yes! I could definitely tell a difference. You will also have to adjust your carburetor for more fuel on the top end after this modification.
@Avalanche2 Жыл бұрын
Why would you do this?
@RidgeOutdoorProductions Жыл бұрын
Same reason anybody else would. More power.
@willowpine260410 ай бұрын
The difference between 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines is the temperature operating! 2 stroke engine when get hotter it loose its power instead of 4stroke that is completely the opposite philosophy! Most of "loggers" here they make it for power and less rising temperature! The factory exhaust with spark arrestors and pollutants filters (yes , they try to play it green even in gas chainsaws ,lol) reduce the gas flow from the engine to come out easily so heat is rising and it turn the chainsaw down more quickly! But you don't want to overdo the exhaust mod because there's a reason for 2strokes exhaust have a weird shape! Their shapes it's giving back with sound waves some mixed air and fuels that escape when the 2 ports are open together for a small amount of milliseconds to make the engine run with more power and somehow with lower fuel consumption, so if you just put only a tube for exhaust you have more fuel consumption but it regulate with lower engine operating temperature , you might have also problems at low revs(it will work unsynchronise until it rev up)but it will be minor defect, you might not even notice that!

Hi remember to not mess out with the back flow, it there for a reason.
@code3responsevideos87223 күн бұрын
I think you mean backpressue? However this is a 2 stroke engine not a 4 stroke engine with a turbo or supercharger therefore, the back pressure issue (which is driving the turbo or supercharge) is non existent.
