OK now I have to be that guy. You are amazing. I had been trying for the last year to get this thing up and running. I had to use me electric leaf blower. Decided to do another search and today I saw your video. did what was said. I also made sure I followed the correct start procedure. Took out the spark arrestor. Started the leaf blower without the spark arrestor in place. The leaf blower ran well and had power without the spark arrestor removed. So I cleaned the spark arrestor with my blow torch. I waited for the spark arrestor to cool so I could handle the cleaned spark arrestor. After the spark arrestor was properly cooled to handle I was able to re-install the spark arrestor in the spark arrestor spot. I was able to re-start the leaf blower with the cleaned spark arrestor in place and was able to blow leaves and yard debris to my little hearts content. So thank you on the dirty spark arrestor advice. It surely sparked my interest. You arrested my fears. Thank you

This was great! Worked perfectly and I also used the blow torch. After buying all the sparkplug, air filter and fuel filter package, I was at a loss. Many thanks - This is how the internet is supposed to work; a community to help each other.

Thank you so much for this. This blower sucks but I have to use it 10 hours a day for work. It clogs up after only about 30 hours of use... so this is a godsend. Now I have POWER!!!

Thanks! One of the very few times in the history of KZbin that actually was helpful, understandable, and didn’t leave me more confused than I started! And yes the spark arrestor was the problem! Great fix!

After being discouraged for weeks that my shredder vac had lost all power, I replaced the air filter which did nothing. I saw this video today while on my way to a job. I turned and went back home, pulled the spark arrestor out and put the torch to it. My blower is back to full power. This was unbelievable. Thank you for your video.

Spent a couple years thinking about what was wrong with the stupid thing, spraying the carburetor, cleaning the filter, spark plug... Should have just searched. Torch did the trick. Was ready to get rid of it, but works like new now! Thanks!

Don’t need a torch if you don’t have one - I used a water based, rust inhibitive heavy duty degreaser(All Purpose Prepaint Degreaser by Great Lakes Labs, if you’re interested) to loosen the contaminant once the arrestor was free(just dropped it in a shallow cup of the stuff, undiluted) Put in vice, light steel brush, dropped back into degreaser bath, and hit with a little non-chlorinated brake cleaner to knock anything off that wasn’t metal, and good as new. You could probably just use the brake cleaner and steel brush. Or just the steel brush. I overdo things... Point is, if you don’t have a torch, you don’t need one! Oh, and great video! Very helpful.

Great video, your solution worked an absolute treat, thanks heaps. I havnt read through all the comments so this may have already been suggested, but as I didnt have access to a similar blow torch or oxy acetylene torch at the time, I instead 'borrowed' the wifes butane chefs torch from the kitchen. Turns out this worked completely perfectly. I guess the only catch would be to make sure not to tell the wife.

Hey Conner, With all of our two stroke small engines their meant to be used wide open, The more we feather the throttle the more those screens clog... (if you keep it on) it was a common problem at the lawn mower shop I worked at, we tried teaching the customers but they kept bringing em in...lol

Had Stihl blower loss of power problem today.. After checking everything else, removed spark arrestor and it ran at full power. I may leave it out. Not that much difference in sound level. Blower is only a couple years old, so kind of surprised it became clogged so quickly. Thanks for the tip!

You should put a disclaimer for those who remove it entirely. The spark arrestor is there to catch burning pieces that could ( if removed as you suggested ) start a fire.

I had a similar problem and checked the spark arrestor and it was clean and it ended up being the gas, after putting fresh gas in it ran better. I use my blower very infrequently and tend to use the premix high octane with ethanol eliminated so that wasn't my original thought but by adding fresh gas it helped.

Next time it clogs-up, cut off that screen on the spark arrestor with a hacksaw or cut-off wheel and be done with it...You will never have to worry about a clogged arrestor again....I cut mine off 2 years ago on my SH56c blower and it's been working like new ever since.
