Ive been running Stihl weed eaters for 35 years. Not once have I felt so dumb and had to come watch a video to figure out how to restring yet here I am. Ive also never in my life been told to soak the replacement string for 24 hrs in water. Im sure Im not up to speed on the latest in weed eating polymer but seriously? Now Im going to have to go figure out what thats all about haha. My next excuse for not cutting the grass is going to be - the string needs to soak! Im kind of joking around a bit - thanks for the video I would've broken it trying to restring it had I not just put it down and told myself to RTFM. This method makes it easier for the newer gen I guess. Well, if youre 6ft+ and remember to do 4 wing spans of string. Just not what Im used to.

No, you can simply reload without taking anything apart, very easy and good design. I think they show all the other steps in case the fan head is clogged with grass etc

Can this be used to replace the FSA 56 electric trimmer head ? Much appreciated, I've been looking all over for months for this as my trimmer head eyelets popped out after a few uses and the strings are all messed up - very disappointed as the gas versions are really solid.

The white plastic case removal at 1m33sec is a laughable staged act. It doesn't come off without leverage, potentially damaging the casing. Design fault or bad batch of fittings. I don't know which. Would be good to have an explanation from Stihl

Nevertheless my biggest tip for getting that shit out is using a tool for leverage and a rock or something on the otherside for pressure. My baby hands cant do that shit by themselves.

Hey, we appreciate your honest feedback. Do you have any specific notes on what you mean exactly?
@andrewturvey1309 Жыл бұрын
Well, the first 30 seconds are painful. I want to know how to do something, I don't need a story. Too mannered putting gloves down, and why - don't want to get gloves wet as that could qualify for a WARNING! RISK OF INJURY/DANGER. Taking of cover isn't as easy as implied and also why remove whole assembly of your just feeding in a new line? Show both, one if you need to clean it first or another with housing still on trimmer. Finally, what is this whole line soaking nonsense!? On first use soak the line to make it pliable etc. But then I don't use the trimmer for a month, or 3 months, or 6 months - at what point do I have to soak the line again?
@Stihl Жыл бұрын
@@andrewturvey1309 hello! Thank you for providing us with your feedback and we are happy to answer all your questions. Please note that we do recommend wearing gloves at all times when using/servicing the product. This is also explained in point 4.4 "Clothing and equipment" of the instruction manual. In the video, we advise removing the trimmer head assembly of the as part of our recommended maintenance. This is so that the tool can be cleaned regularly to make sure that problems reloading the trimmer with line does not become cumbersome in the future. Last, when it comes to soaking the line, as the moisture dries out, trimmer line may become brittle and “snap” rather than wear down and become thinner, as it is engineered to do. Trimmer line may be submerged in water at the beginning of every lawn care season. We hope this provides clarification!
