Had an 880 a few years back. It lasted me a whole month, even running their pre-mix. Welded the piston right to the cylinder. I couldn’t get any warranty help either. So that is the condensed version of how I bought my first Husqvarna 3120 and 372. Still running both. I have such a bad taste in my mouth about Stihl… don’t think I would take a free one after that deal. A $2000 power head should last more than a month, but because they deemed it commercial I was screwed.
@thefirewooddoctor
@thefirewooddoctor 2 жыл бұрын
You should've had at least a 6mo warranty for "commercial" use. If going to burn up an expensive powerhead, might as well get the Farmertec-Holzfforma clone the 880.
@FrozenCrapholeDweller

@@thefirewooddoctor Pretty much all I got from Stihl was an empty wallet and the middle finger. It’s been many years and that saw has been in landfill for so long that it’s probably decomposed, so I’m not looking for anything from those people. They said that the failure was not attributable to a defect in materials or workmanship. Not sure what else it would have been attributable to. The good news is that I have run my Husqvarna 3120 constantly for more than 5 years now and find that it likes the higher revs better anyways. It is a monster and have even had my local saw shop do a couple of things to it. The owner of the shop can’t believe that a saw that big is my “daily driver” and wants a profit sharing with my chiropractor, but I don’t find that it bothers me.

@@InTheWoodyard I bought the Stihl 880 in question from what was then Triple W in Missoula, MT. They are a Stihl and John Deere dealership. They are now called RDO. I haven’t been back since I got hosed. I would definitely say that I am way happier with the Husqvarna saws I am running now. The shop I bought them from (Steve’s Saw Shop in Lolo, MT) actually knows what the hell they are doing.

G'day ITWY, I was wondering how this was going to end using a Saw designed to Buck eight foot diameter logs on eight inch logs.The Stihls are predominantly used in the hardest woods on Earth not because they're user friendly compared to the Husky their not, but because they take longer to fail. That's why I trade mine in every few years and always sit them on a mat or grass it's good for there appearance and assists in the resale or trade in value .
