6:40 on my air filter I put a small bead of silicone lube ie dielectric grease around the edge to catch anything that that lip won’t keep out.

Excellent video. I find the 261 has this issue as well- the plastic keeper is definitely the culprit.

“Emergen-C” Daily Immune Support from the local box store. This stuff really works. I take it twice a day when I get a bad cold

Can you elaborate on getting access to the Stihl parts website? That would be a huge help to have access to part numbers for sourcing replacements. We have a tree service company with dozens of Stihl saws.

hello richard I had this choke problem with sthil 261 Off topic: I wanted to tell you that I tested with motomix fuel which has ultra no carbon hp oil on the exhaust light but with gasoline from the station and ultra early carbon formation oil, I have fun disassembling the exhaust pipes thanks to you What do you think of sthil alkilate motomix or aspen thank you for your future answer, and congratulations again for your videos I hope my translation is good because I write from France thank you very much
@richardflagg3084 Жыл бұрын
Translation is crystal clear. As far as I know the Alkalyte fuel is very pure and has a long storage life. It may help the Ultra burn cleaner. I never said it was a bad lubricant. In all of the inspections I've done, it has been more of a carbon build up problem. Merci Monsieur!
@richardflagg3084 Жыл бұрын
In addition, is there a more modern oil that carries the JASO FD top tier rating available to you? These oils have a better detergent package without sacrificing lubrication. It may allow you to use pump gasoline. If longer storage time is important to you, I would continue using Alkalyte fuel.

@richardflagg3084 I heard the motimix doesn't have ultra in it, they use a different oil?

@@ricksanchez7459 According to the Stihl website they use Ultra in Motomix. I haven't heard or seen anything different.

Why would my 362c not idle. In the cold start it will idle fine. But once rev it up it will come back down to idle for like 3 seconds and then die?

Richard, Who'd predicted this one. Today's partial task list, Fill out a toe tag for an MS290, fatal piston inflammation. Husky 36 choke no worky, new carb, fun. something else and then a MS362C with a tag for choke not working. WHAT!!!! I just watched this THIS AM!! Parts ordered and I showed shop boss a snap of the revision. Thanks for the view behind the curtain on this one. Everything else just kinda mundane stuff. Gary in Darlington

Richard, New parts arrived today. MS362C choke rod 1140 851 902, switch shaft 1140 800 903. This had the new white rod keeper. Install, not difficult but the choke would not set. The top of the choke arm was over center of the choke shaft and trying to choke just locked it up harder. Much poking and prodding and a quick search suggested a bent choke butterfly. Yup we had it. Decision made, repaired and now we have a working but a bit clumsy choke. But it does work just not crisp and clean. What we do not know is how it happened and what happened to the spring that links the yellow kill wire to the master switch black wire to kill the engine, it was missing. Found a used one and moved on. The one giveaway looking back was that the choke lever round rod that acts against the throttle was so far back it touched the air filter. Now with fixed butterfly it is noticeably forward of the filter. If this I expect is old news to you any details on cause etc would be very interesting. Thanks, and if you get down to the Pee Dee someday lunch is on me. Gary
@richardflagg3084 Жыл бұрын
@@garyc.8488 Sounds like a basket case. Lol! That carb is a little more complicated as far as linkage goes. The saw may have suffered a little damage at some point for the butterfly not to move smoothly. Just a guess. I have seen them bind from wear and tear over the years. The carb may run fine, but not operate well mechanically. When that happens, I usually recommend a new carb. Expensive, but fixed right. Frustrated customers is something no one wants.

Hope you feel better Rich!! I got a question. I am working on a ms500i no spark I already tried the kill switch since it was cheap. I got a coil on the way. You don’t have to do anything with the MDG when you swap a new coil do you?
@richardflagg3084 Жыл бұрын
I haven't done a coil swap yet. You should be able to swap and go. The parts look up software also has a "book labor" chart. It calls for a Stop circuit test and the coil swap. 5 Minutes of diag. (hahaha!) and 20 minutes for the total job. Chop Chop M'fer!! Keep me posted. I'd like to know it that cures it. I am curious though, has this saw had a fall or any damage just prior to the failure?
@mfsaws8240 Жыл бұрын
@@richardflagg3084 I is a logging saw on its second cylinder after a crank seal failure of 8 months of logging. Fixed that up and it lasted another 4 months now when it gets hot it shuts off no spark. So fingers crossed it the coil and not the generator or the other sensor under the flywheel. I’ll let you know should be in early next week!! It gets run 6 days a week for at least 5-6 hours a day id say.

@@richardflagg3084 Just put the coil on. Still no ⚡️. So kill switch and coil are new all the wires look okay. So its either the stator or the ignition sensor under the flywheel I believe . I popped the flywheel off nothing looks like it rubbed or anything like that. You know of anyway to test the stator or the ignition sensor?
@richardflagg3084 Жыл бұрын
@@mfsaws8240 I'm at a loss. The stator shouldn't interfere with spark (just a guess). The sensor is a crank position if I remember correctly.
