You know. I think it's worth it to have that Reciprocating blade, because you gotta figure, the potential peace of mind. You're probably not going to be tearing up the white posts around the house, and on the side of the house. So, it will save you time and money, and it will reduce the chances of accidents, like flinging a rock into a window, or chipping the side of a building. Thanks for demonstrating this. I think I will get this. I am concerned about tearing up the bottom of the house.

My daughter purchased this one for me for Christmas. I think you have to get them from a authorized Stihl dealer. I'd suggest contacting you local Stihl dealer.

I purchased this unit about a year ago and it's got less than an hour on it, but the blades (scissors) will intermittently get stuck and stop moving. They aren't chipped, there is nothing caught between any of the blades, it just stops. Using a more than powerful enough (approved) Kombi head unit to run it. The bolt on the underside simply takes the blades off. Have you experienced this? Quite frustrating to stop multiple times during operation to manually try to move the blades and then resume. Thoughts? Thanks!

I have not had that problem. I use mine for edging and trimming. It works fine. My only dislike is that it does not throw the grass away from where you are cutting. I have to reach down and move the grass to be sure I cut it evenly. The string trimmer throws the grass away from where you are cutting.

Yes, I'm in Georgia. My daughter purchased this one for me for Christmas. I think you have to get them from a Stihl dealer. They had to order it. I think because they are pretty pricey they don't keep them in stock.

What Happens if you hit chain link?

I don't know. I'm sure it would not be good for the blades, but I don't know if it has some type of slip clutch to protect the head or if it just bites into whatever it hits. Fortunately I have not hit anything solid.

This is way to expensive addition fella. The replacement part also cost a small fortune.
