Great video. They're good blowers I've got a couple, both were dead and I've fix them. From what I remember the plate that bolts on behind flywheel had come loose and jammed flywheel on one. The other engine had come loose from housing on fan side jamming fan. Strongly recommend some loctite on those screws, worked for me.

I love my BG86. The SH comes with the vacuum kit for about 30 bucks more. C for catalytic Muffler I believe. Regarding the KZbin police, I got nailed for Classical music once!! That thing looks well loved!! New cordless drill?? I've also had wood chips jammed into the macerator blades making me think it was locked up. LOVE the B&D Impact.

After new carb and a coil it still won’t start, so I tore it down and found pieces of the bearing cages inside, appears to be no damage, so I put it back together but still would not start. Would bad bearings keep it from starting ? They turned smoothly... thanks jim
@craigtimmons34683 жыл бұрын
If the bearings are loose it could cause an air/vacuum leak at the crank seals which could cause a no start condition. Did you pull the muffler and or the cylinder off to inspect for scoring of the piston/cylinder? Scoring and stuck rings will also cause a no start. Check the sparkplug to make sure its good and getting spark at the tip of the center electrode. With the info you provided my best guess would be scoring of the piston but that's only a guess. A Gross air leak could also be an issue.

The screws are P5 and M5. I wish folks on UTube would learn the correct names for parts and use them. If you do not know, search for an IPL and they usually have the correct names. Sometimes the proscribed names even fool me. A recent example, was the worm gear spacer on the crank on a 361
@johnclarke66475 жыл бұрын
The IPL calls it a circlip but it is, in fact a 15 by 1 snap ring. I figured that was what it was from the picture in the IPL. I have one for my Huztl 361 but have not put it on, yet because I am sometimes lazy.

I would have liked to seen what tools were used, and how you removed the bearings from the shaft. Can they or is it practicable to remove the bearings without special tools? Many may rarely need to do this and buying special tools for a one time operation increases cost which may add up to not worth repairing a item. Thanks
@craigtimmons34684 жыл бұрын
I used a small bearing splitter and my shop press, One can purchase a bar typy bearing puller from Harbor Freight for not much money, or could take it to any small engine or auto repair shop to have them removed for a small fee. You could try to use heat but my experience with heat when the bearing is installed on the crank is it's very hard to make it work. To install the new bearings they can be installed by pressing or by useing a piece of small diameter pipe that goes over the crankshaft and sits on the inner race to tap the new bearing into place using a hammer, doing it this way you will need to support the counterweights by placing something that is snug fitting into the center of the counterweights. You can also heat the bearings with some form of heat that will expand the inner race thus allowing it to just simply slid onto the shaft easily, but you need to move quickly so to get the bearing into place before it cools and grabs onto the crank before it can be set into place.

I just bought a used BG50 blower and the white parts of the housing is really dirty the way yours are. Do you have any tips on how to clean that up? I know it’s just cosmetic and doesn’t really matter, but I’d like to shine it up a bit if possible. I tried a 50/50 bleach water and a tooth brush. That worked, ok, but not great. Any tips?
@craigtimmons34684 жыл бұрын
Try submerging it in the same 50/50 mix and let it soak starting at 20mins and then scrub with the tooth brush and see how that's does.

The seal was probably bad on the flywheel side, too, which is why it was so loose. Just about anytime you shear a flywheel key your seal on that side is bad and if your seal is bad there is a good chance the bearing is bad on that side, too.
@craigtimmons34685 жыл бұрын
Obviously you didnt listen the waht I was saying, I never stated that the flywheel key was sheared I said the flywheel was loose and upon removal I stated that the flwnut was very loose and that the cast in key was still intact, I also stated that it was the fan side (pto) bearing that was bad, also pointed out that I suspected that the fan side (pto) seal was leaking due to some residual seepage inside the fan housing.

Somebody probably straight gassed the SH86 or ran it hard for years with a low quality two cycle oil.
@craigtimmons34685 жыл бұрын
I really doubt it was stright gassed due to the good film of oil coating everything inside of the engine, my guess would be many hours of very hard use causing a bearing failure thus causing a seal failure. Low quality oil may have played a roll in this but I still think is was due to high hours and hard use.
