İstiklal Caddesi - Beyoğlu

İstiklal Caddesi (Osmanlıca: جادهٔ كبیر, romanize: Cadde-i Kebir (Büyük Cadde); Fransızca: Grande Rue de Péra), İstanbul'un Beyoğlu ilçesindeki Tünel Meydanı ile Taksim Meydanı arasında yer alan popüler bir caddedir. 19. yüzyılın sonlarından günümüze dek Türkiye'nin en popüler caddesi olma ünvanını koruyan cadde, 1,4 km uzunluğundadır. Orta noktası Galatasaray Lisesi'nin yanından geçen Yeniçarşı Caddesi'nin caddeyi kestiği ve 50. Yıl Anıtı'nın bulunduğu yer kabul edilir. Ortalama olarak 74 metre yükseklikte yer alan İstiklal Caddesi idari olarak 9 ayrı mahalleyi kapsar.
Beyoğlu İlçesi adını, aynı zamanda ana ekseni olan İstiklal Caddesi ve ona açılan sokakların olduğu alanı kapsayan Beyoğlu semtinden alır. Tarlabaşı Bulvarı caddenin paralelinde uzanır.
İstiklal Avenue (Ottoman: جادهٔ كبیر, romanized: Cadde-i Kebir (Great Avenue); French: Grande Rue de Péra) is a popular avenue located between Tünel Square and Taksim Square in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul. The avenue, which has maintained the title of being the most popular avenue in Turkey since the late 19th century, is 1.4 km long. Its midpoint is considered to be where Yeniçarşı Avenue, which passes next to Galatasaray High School, intersects the avenue and where the 50th Year Monument is located. İstiklal Avenue, which is 74 meters high on average, administratively covers 9 separate neighborhoods.
Beyoğlu District takes its name from the Beyoğlu district, which includes the area where İstiklal Avenue - which is also its main axis - and the streets leading to it. Tarlabaşı Boulevard runs parallel to the avenue.
