Just think of the MASSIVE world tours she'd be going on today. At the time of her passing, she was planning the "Dreaming Of You" tour, which would have taken her to Europe and Asia for the first time. I saw something once where she was talking about what it would feel like to perform in Europe, and she was really excited. But, even though she never got the chance to perform there, they actually did know about her at the time. There was a church in Spain that held a memorial mass for her after her passing that was built to seat 500 people, and 1,500 showed up. And, news organizations from all over the world covered U.S. memorials for her, and the trial of her murderer, which was considered by the press to be as sensational as the O.J. Simpson trial.

She had a combination of talent, class and charisma that was, and will always remain, incomparable, and carried herself with the humility and grace of a true artist at all times. She introduced the rest of the country, and the rest of the world, to an amazing genre of music so many had not heard of untill then, is the only female musical artist in history to ever have 5 albums on the charts simultaneously, first Tejano artist to have an album attain "gold" status, first Tejano artist to win a Grammy, and the first Latin artist to ever debut at number 1, among other things. She has stars on 3 different walks of fame - 2 in Texas, and 1 in Hollywood, and has been inducted into 4 music halls of fame - ( Tejano, Texas Musicians', International Latin, and Texas Womens' ). Her Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony was attended by more people than any other, EVER, and she was given an evening ceremony, which is very rare, and considered a big honor in itself. The last person who was given an evening ceremony was a former member of The Beatles, so that says a lot about how loved and respected Selena is. She had a combination of talent, charisma, stylistic versatility and class that was, and will always remain, unequaled. I'm not a person who's easily impressed by anyone or anything, but Selena is just on a level all her own. She makes the "artists" out there today look like a joke. Selena didn't need vulgar lyrics or stage moves - that's for amatures. Like the TRUE artist that she was, she let her work speak for her. @@pizza6572 I’m always like suprised people don’t know, because she’s like as famous as Elvis in my family. But I tell them that she was an absolute legend and a tejano singer. And they’ll be like “what’s tejano?” And I have to explain how it’s a mixture of different genres. I actually got one of my friends hooked to her music and she doesn’t even speak Spanish she’s learning it phonetically. And someone asked if she does concerts in America (because she’s a Mexican singer) and I have to tell them that she was murdered and that’s like super hard to explain because she was so kind and humble. And for those who doesn’t know Spanish .. you should tell them she sang in English too and hook them up with her dreaming of you album Selena did concerts in USA a lot more than Mexico .. and she did internacionally like Puerto Rico .. El Salvador .. she was suppose to go to Japan .. Europe’.. international for her dreaming of you crossover but unfortunately she died
