Both MV versions were actually released at the same time during their debut in May 2009. At that time most Kpop groups didn't have their KZbin channels yet and most of their MVs were released on Korea's version of livestreaming site. I remember having to download the HD version of their MVs because the ones available in KZbin were lower quality. . During that time 1080p was still a new thing and these MVs were one of the first ones released that used the 1080p resolution. Because of that it was used by Samsung to promote their new HDTVs in stores in Korea. So in many ways, 2NE1 was indeed a game changer. You' should react to their other MVs like I Am The Best, Come Back Home, Falling In Love, Follow Me, Clap Your Hands, It Hurs, and many more actually.

Not only in Korea! I knew them because I worked at an appliances store around that time (I'm Argentinean, never leave my country) and the Samsung HDTVs all came with this song, both MVs and Wonder Girls "Nobody". All of my coworkers (mostly they were men, women only worked as cashier at that time) were OBSESSED with them. One of them even learned the choreographies just by watching when the store was empty. You could see him dancing in front of the TVs if you entered the store at 15-16hs.

Oh! I'm so happy that you're reacting to 2NE1! They're definitely an important girl group in the kpop world. "Fire" was their first solo song, but they did a collaboration with their labelmates Big Bang called "Lollipop" before. That's a really cute song, but unfortunately, it's only in 480p too. For your next song, I would suggest "I'm the Best", since it's their most iconic song. Other songs with the same vibe: "Can't Nobody" and "Follow Me". "Hate You" is also very good, but the MV is purely cartoon, so I don't know if you react to that kind of MV. For the softer side of 2NE1, there's "It Hurts", "Lonely" and "I love You". And "Goodbye", but that's their last song, so I wouldn't suggest you to react to that next... Other good songs: "Come Back Home", "Ugly"... they have so many songs I like, it's hard to choose >.< You should also watch some of their live stages, they're great performers.

It was often the case that Kpop’s trending sound was popular in the West 3-4 years prior 😂 but Kpop puts their own spin... and they add an element of dance choreography that was really popular during the 80’s and 90’s but went out-of-style in Western music around mid-2000’s. Kpop likes to revive old trends 😂 Kpop in 2009 were heavily influenced by T-Pain’s music, a very famous singer/rapper and producer that reigned the mid 2000s. A lot of the younger generation consider this sound “outdated”... what they don’t realize is that the sound was in fact very old... as early as mid 2000’s around the same time KZbin was invented 😂. But as you will see, 2NE1 is not afraid to push the envelope and explore other genres. They were among the few artists around this time that will introduce reggae in kpop ... not in this song in particular but in another song(s).... for example, “I Don’t Care” or “Come Back Home”.

I hope you were able to get the significance of the cards shown in both MVs. Just like at 10:23, the ace of spades and the queen of hearts has always been 2NE1's cards. It has mutiple intendre actually. Ace meaning they are the top, ace of spades is also the highest and most valued card in the deck, also called the death card. Queen of hearts is easy which means the members are are queens and they steal everyone's hearts. Ace of space and queen of hearts' value in the game Blackjack equals to... 21!!! which is actually why the fans of 2NE1 are called blackjacks. Its not just their MV, its their live performances that really sets them apart from other girl groups at that time and now too if BLACKJACKS are still here to support my claim. They may not be the strongest dancers (although Minzy the short haired one is the main dancer and probably still one of the best girl group dancer at the time but YG never showcased her dancing that much) but each have their own charisma on the stage. And they are known for pulling off A LOT of adlibs to the point where u gotta watch almost ALL their live performances, special features and like everything and spot differences. Also, their song I Am The Best is the number one mv u gotta watch. Its practically their all kill song.

The mv's for Fire do not quite capture the essence of 2ne1. The directors had their visions which translated into the videos. I think many will agree with me when I say that the only proper way to get to know 2ne1 and react to them is by watching their 2015 MAMA performance. That was 2ne1 in all their glory. It was one of the or - dare I say - THE greatest live performance of a kpop group. The badassery of that performance is so glorious to behold. It really captured the group's essence; badass mixed with a bit of sexy and cute. And just a little bit of crazy. Truly breathtaking, undeniably unforgettable. All hail the Queens!!!
