I felt so bad for her. It was clear she wasn't formulating a real budget when she can't even describe what she's bringing in every month. I have a feeling her husband is a big part of the equation. If he's not even involving himself with the financial side, he could be spending god knows how much money without her even knowing about it. Marriage is a partnership, and that means both parties have to take equal responsibility to make that household function. I hope her and her husband can sort this mess out together.

My Wife works for an electric/gas Utility in Billing, and it's amazing to learn how many people think that having electric and gas service should be free. It's often the last thing paid when things get tight, that includes after the new car they can't afford and the $800.00 dollar outdoor smoker grill. Ever wonder sometimes why your utilities bill is so high, some of that is because of the amount they have to write off every year which the amount would shock some people.

This was hard to listen to. I think where a lot of people get tripped up is in the weeds. Get a precise number (down to the dollar) on your income. Get precise about your debt. Put it on paper! Call in with that paper! Know your minimum payment amounts. It will be a much more productive conversation and Dave won’t have to keep speaking over people to get to the real.
