Still life in ink wash

Thank you so much. I was visiting a museum today and struggling to get a decent ink and wash of a statue. Nothing incredibly complicated but oh well 😐 I would love to see myself trying this approach more often, so here I have my challenge for February. I found your channel by watching your video on Flex Nib fountain pens. I do watercolor, not ink wash, but this is a great class. Your explanations are clear, with lots of great tips, that also apply to watercolor. I'm so glad I found your channel! Looking forward to more videos. :)

At this point I give the like prior to watch the video. One only question, isn't it better to cover with the first wash everything that is not white?, this way the overlap will integrate them better to the background.

You definitely can start that way. This is a for complete beginners, however, and I felt it would easier for them to break things down in to simpler steps, and only dal with the backroun, before moving into the objects.

Around 29:00 ....Yeah ,I spoted a little portrait ( bust portrait ) in the middle of that jar , vase , whatever it is.....This remainds me of van Eyck's Anrolfini's Portrait (husband and whife ) and of that convexe mirrow van Eyck painted in the back of that room....😃

@@mkompan yeap.......But.....many people....many art lovers....they don't know that in van Eyck's workshop....there were all the time 10-12 WORKING PEOLE.. different degrees of califiquation......all thouse involved in produceing a good pice of art...... Knowing this.....somehow it fades a little bit the shineing of this big painter's star...... It is 19 century french literature's FAULT : ( then repeted in movies from 1950- 2000 ....) about : THE SOLITARY GENIUS who lives in departure from the city's core, away from every day society , the longly artist who meditates and creates...... Yeap ......Nice fair-tales .....VERY GOOD for selling a book or a movie.......and VERY FAKE 😁.... Van Eyck , van der Weyden , Memling , Leonardo , Tiziano, Rembrandt....THEY ALL MOVED from countryside to BIG CITYES to find rich people able to pay big money for thouse painter's art.....

@@romulusbuta9318 that many paintings were done in a workshop under the careful direction of a master doesn’t diminish the achievement in any way, in the same way the fact that a gothic cathedral was made by masons over several generations does not diminish its grandeur. Also, the desire to be well compensated and the desire to make great art are not mutually exclusive.
