"Still Loving You" is a power ballad by the German hard rock band Scorpions. It was released in June 1984 as the second single from their ninth studio album, Love at First Sting (1984). The song reached number 64 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was most successful in Europe, reaching the top 5 in several countries.

In an interview with Songfacts, Rudolf Schenker explained, "It's a story about a love affair, where they recognized it may be over, but let's try again."

Ein absoluter Klassiker mit gigantisch einprägsamen Akkordfolgen in Moll. 1:34: Auch sehr ungewöhnlich, dieser Dur Akkord auf der 2. Stufe von G-Moll... 2:15: Diese Akkordfolgen haben mich auch für viele Songs inspiriert. Coole Performance am Bass. Ist ja eher ne ruhige Nummer, bei der man am Bass nicht so extrem viel zu tun hat:-) Danke fürs Teilen. Gruß Peter

Nein, da muss sich der Bassist in der Tat kein Bein ausreissen, um das zu spielen :-). Aber man hat das Gefühl dem Song Gewicht verleihen zu können, zumal an einigen Stellen nur Gitarren und Stimmen präsent sind. Vielen Dank für den Besuch und Kommentar, Peter :-)

@@davidmeister_ch Was das Gitrarren Riffing betrifft waren die Scorpions nie richtig groß. Ich kenn jetzt keinen Riff, den ich von denen spontan nachspielen würde - ganz im Gegensatz zu anderen Bands wie Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin oder Black Sabbath. In Deutschland sind die Scorpions gar nicht so groß. Da gibt es diesen Song hier und die bekannte Ballade - sonst findet deren Material hier keine große Beachtung im Mainstream. Aber in diesem Song passt das schon mit den Powerchords und dem Gesang. Aber ein bisschen Gewicht vom Bass kann nie schaden 🙂

Hab mir erst vor zwei Tagen einen E-Bass gekauft und bin jetzt auf der Suche nach Songs die ich mitspielen kann. Nachdem ich vorher noch nicht Bass gespielt hab und nur wenig Ahnung von Noten habe, speziell was den Bassschlüssel betrifft, ist es echt super daß Du Noten und Tabs zur Verfügung stellst. Dadurch hat man Griffe und Rhythmus dargestellt und kommt leichter ins Timing als bei reinen Tabs. Vielen Dank, tolles Video👏🏻👏🏻

Oui, c'est vrai, les mélodies sont magnifiques. Et aussi l'harmonie est particulière à mon avis. Surtout cet accord de Si majeur après le La mineur. Je ne sais pas comment le mettre en contexte... Est-ce qu'il annonce l'accord de Mi majeur qui suit en tant que nouvelle tonique ? La progression I - II - V est assez courante, mais i - II - V je n'ai encore jamais vu, je crois... Yes! Well! I don't think many Male singers have tenor voices. That doesn't mean that a baritone voice isn't a nice listen . . . . . even in the 'Pop/Rock' world.

Hello John, I am glad you checked out the Scorpions. They were pretty big here in Europe. Cool you liked my bass. It's a Fender Precision 1979 :-) I think you are right about lowering the key for vocal reasons. And the older the singer gets the more they probably have to lower the key. I heard a live version in which they played the song in Gm :-D A big thank you for stopping by and commenting, John!

Hello David. Always my pleasure to 'stop by'! 😊 Well! lowering the key half a step (a semi-tone) isn't too bad. Having said that, so many great singers lose their higher register with age. Paul McCartney is one example; but I have to wonder in his case how much that had to do with smoking cigarettes and pot. Who knows. I know that when I gave up smoking pot and cigarettes, my voice improved.

@@johnnyl1957 I also believe smoking kills your higher register, but that's just an assumption. I also think that with age you lose muscle power that's needed to reach higher notes. But that's an assumption, too. We'd have to ask a vocal specialist to be sure. I stopped smoking anything a good number of years ago and I'm happy I did 🙂
