The thing I like most about you, is your chill attitude. It inspires confidence. When I'm on a regular flight and something makes me nervous I immediately look at the flight crew. If they don't look nervous I know we're good lol. I'm taking my discovery flight tomorrow. I can't wait!!

As an active CFi, I have a huge appreciation for Seth and how LewDix is handling the training with him. It is obvious this guy has studied up before ever touching the controls, and his CFi can quiz him a little bit more, and let him FLY a little bit more, than the average joe. Awesome video and great insight!!!

I empathize with what he is going through. I am about 45hrs into my training and I struggle with my confidence around flying solo. I have the same issues about intrusive thoughts and fear of f*cking up with catastrophic consequences. I would love to follow Seth's training to watch him build confidence. Please continue to post his journey if you can!
@N9197U3 жыл бұрын
Trust me, I had the same thing. Flying solo for the first time was more of a "don't think about it, just do what you've done 50 times before". That got me through it, but I must admit that on that first cross-country, that's when you really have time to think about it.
@trbeme13463 жыл бұрын
This is a great video. Seth is really serious about getting his license. Has he completed ground school already? He seems to be able to answer many of the questions asked along with have a basic understanding of what to do. I enjoy his commentary as my statements are quite a bit like his. Next time right before takeoff and after runup ask him if he let his girlfriend know he was flying. One of the best videos. Keep it up.

@@LewDixAviation winds were 18009G20KT. I'm a big guy so the Warrior was cramped and pretty much felt unstable in the seat from the start. 😂😂 Super bad wind sheer from takeoff to 2500 and then again at 3500. All that combined i just decided to head back after about 20 minutes in the air. THAT SAID, I am so glad for the experience and the crazy bumps aside it was super cool up there. I think I just need to go back on a day that isn't gusting to 20kt 😅. And perhaps try a plane where my ass isn't hanging off the seat if I can find it.

In your passenger briefing to the DPE: 'These are the flight controls... Refrain from touching them while I fly as passengers have been known to lose fingers' .. Then pull out a ziplock bag with a fake finger in some ice... It's a foolproof comedy bit which will ensure you pass your ride.

Interesting! What are the pros and cons of doing the power on stall at a lower power setting than full? I was taught to do them with full power, after slowing to 60 knots. It's interesting to see it done a different way than I'm used to.
@LewDixAviation3 жыл бұрын
It’s a discovery flight so no need to go through full power on stalls yet. I have however seen DPE’s asking for less than full power on the power on because the Cherokees in particular just keep climbing haha
@N9197U3 жыл бұрын
@@LewDixAviation Awesome, thanks for the reply! Full power stalls, especially in the near empty 172, are pretty fierce when that nose drops. Seems like we're around 40 degrees nose up when the stall occurs, and that nose drops really fast!
