Hi , I grew lemon from the seed . I called it Covid Lemon😀🍋 , it’s about 4 years now. I lived in Northern Ontario , so I had to bring it inside before the first frost and trim since it’s bushy . It’s about 3 ft and I place it in my heated sunroom. I don’t see any bloom yet and still hoping it will give me bloom next year 🍋🍋. Thank you for sharing your video .

I bought an improved Meyer Lemon in a 4" pot last spring , it's already nearly 3 feet tall , in a 3 gallon pot outside in zone 6b and this spring it's full of blooms ! I love your videos , they are VERY informative and since watching your video on growing Meyer lemon from cuttings I have already rooted 8 new lemon trees and gifted 4 of them to friends and neighbors along with a link to your KZbin channel.

if its a hybrid orange it may never be like the parent tree though, make sure its a heirloom citrus
@Itried20takennames10 ай бұрын
Yeah…..it might, but as said, some fruit plant seeds don’t grow “true to seed”….you could take 10 seeds from the same orange, and some will produce fruit like the parent trees, some more, some less, but some will grow but not fruit. 3 feet is likely still early, and still might if not this year.

Your video was very helpful because now I understand I must wait a few years before I actually see a bloom 😔....Thank you 🙏
@marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
here's another thing to consider Maria,, your plant grown from seed? which variety is it. If its a hybrid strain, you dont know which fruit you will be getting. The only way you an be sure is if its a graft from proven lemon or from a air layered tree from the mother plant. There is no greater joy than raising a citrus tree from a seed and seeing your first blossoms.. then days later you see the little tiny fruit fall off Boo Hoo!!! It happens all the time..
@malcolmbrewer Жыл бұрын
Sadly I did the same, planting seeds from beautiful large lemons... the fruit from the trees are nothing like the original fruit. Dry, no juice, and hard... so sad all out time watering, cultivating, composting and fertilising... gonna graft my lime cuttings to the lemon plants.

I live in New England, I finally got a Meyer Lemon Tree, I've had it for 4months, I transplanted it because it was growing out of the container it came in, Now its outside during summer, seems to grow more branches instead of fruit, this tree/bush means a lot to me because lemon is my favorite spice/flavoring. Plant your own food folks ! it's not complicated, ask questions, people are always there to help.

Some years back when I lived in Southern Scotland I bought 2 year old citrus trees from a supplier in southern England they fruited the first year and every year there after. Crops were so big I sold a lot too my customers as I was in the market garden trade. In fact they grew and produced a dam site better than they do here in Portugal where you expect them to fruit.

Thank you so much for going through the steps and requirements. My 3 year old Meyer lemon put off 2 blooms this year. It's the first time it's bloomed! My 3 year old Key Lime has not yet bloomed. It went through a pretty severe leaf drop after spending winter inside. It's produces SO many new leaves this spring. I hope next year will be it's year.
@marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
great ,,, the leaf drop is caused from shock , aka change of temperature, humidity and light. They will come back quickly. Lime tree, from seed?? If its from seed, patience is the name of the game, I may be a couple of years yet before it blooms. Otherwise, if its grafted or from cutting, it is the same age as the mother tree and simply fertilize with Citrus-tone by Espoma, water it thoroughly once a week. Deep Water until the water runs out the bottom of the pot. Treat each week with a good anti-insecticide ( all Natural ) Aza Tek Plus is highly recommended. ( Ebay) . Remember each different kind of citrus has different blooming seasons. Right now our Calamondin and limes are blooming out, while the Meyer lemon will start pushing out late summer.
@andrewcrawley8005 Жыл бұрын
My Meyer/Keylime also had leaf drop this last winter so badly I thought it may die also due from being inside. Now it’s prettier and larger than ever. Just re-potted and teasing the root bound ball about two weeks ago and have had probably 6 inches of growth since. I’m hoping it will flower soon even though it’s about four feet tall.

Full-spectrum light with a color temperature in the range of 5000K to 6500K is recommended for the vegetative growth stage of citrus trees. This range provides a balanced spectrum of light that mimics natural sunlight and supports photosynthesis.

I used used coffee grounds this year and I am sure that is what caused it to flower for the fist time since I bought it. Never used vinegar though. I am in the north west of England. Not very warm here.
@marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
Adding coffee grounds to the soil of citrus trees can potentially help promote blooming and overall plant health. Coffee grounds are rich in organic matter and contain various nutrients, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. These nutrients can contribute to the growth and development of citrus trees, including promoting blooming. Coffee grounds also have the advantage of increasing the organic content of the soil, improving its structure and water-holding capacity. They can also attract earthworms and beneficial microorganisms that contribute to soil health. However, it's important to note that coffee grounds are acidic, so they should be used in moderation and not excessively applied. Citrus trees generally prefer a slightly acidic to neutral pH range. If you use coffee grounds as a soil amendment, it's recommended to mix them with other organic matter, like compost, to balance the pH and prevent over-acidification of the soil. Regular monitoring of soil pH and observing the tree's response will help ensure the appropriate application of coffee grounds or any other soil amendments. Hope this helps you Ean :)

yes,, absolutely, your tree predetermines how many fruit it can handle in terms of the strength of the branches and the nutrients it also is able to supply them. the amount of water the plant has in its system also determines. @marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
great,, here are some tips to consider. Is the plant in the ground or in a pot? How old is the plant? the older a plant gets it will begin to size down its fruit. Composting is vital to healthy, larger fruit as citrus are heavy feeders. Make sure to fertilize every 6 months with a good citrus fertilizer. and when its forming fruit make sure to heavy water it once a week, maybe twice if you are in a hotter climate, hope that helps you .One last thing....if its ina plastic pot, check the root system and make sure it isnt rootbound, break up the roots and repot if necessary

Her videos are incredibly helpful. I bought a dwarf navel orange tree last summer, and the nursery mentioned it was 2 years old and should produce fruit. Living in Canada, the winters are harsh, so I kept the plant near a window. It started blooming in the middle of winter, but the flowers quickly fell off. This summer, I moved it outside, and while it began to bloom and grow new leaves, the flowers are still falling off. Can you help me?
@marcelinanoss88255 ай бұрын
cirus trees are prone to drop their blossoms for a number of reasons, it sounds l.ike in your case your moving your tree and they don't like to reacclimate from one temperature/hours of sunlight, going to indoor lighting to natural lighting, also the amount of watering can effect this as well... Your plant will get more growth outside as the Kelvins form the sun are much better, Fertilize it with compost and use worm castings, This would be my recommendation to you,, hope it helps,, also how big is your tree?
@hudharizzy7955 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for getting back . I am unsure of the exact age of the plant, as it was mentioned to produce fruits in its second year when I purchased it. I kept it indoors during the winter, but decided to move it outside for the summer in hopes that it would thrive. However, it quickly began to look sad, with browning leaves and stems. After watching some instructional videos, I repotted the plant and fertilized it with citrus stone organic fertilizer. I discovered that the roots were bound, so I soaked them and provided more space when replanting. I have been watering it with fish fertilizer once a week, hoping for improvement. While I have seen new growth with lots of green leaves, some are healthy while others are falling off after being touched, along with new buds.
@marcelinanoss88255 ай бұрын
@@hudharizzy795 transplanting them into a self-airpruning pot 5 gal makes the most sense this will prevent root bounding. Add worm castings too, BLACK GOLD. keep your soils pH at 6 to 6.5 also keep a close eye on spidermites and mealy bugs..Use Azatek plus to keep it pest free

hi there, Check your plants roots. Citrus are heavy feeders, they want nutrients badly. Citrus tone and Mg is great. If you repot add some compost to your mix as well. good luck!

I have a Calamansi tree and have it indoors as I am not in the correct zone to leave it outside. It is a 3 year old tree and is now covered in blooms but the leaves are dropping. I have a grow light on the tree to ensure it gets a lot of light and have been watering it carefully. I have also fertilized the tree. What else can I do to help the leaves grow back?
@marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
you must have just moved in from outdoors which will put your citrus tree in transit shock. It may drop all of it sleaves, but if you give it good lighting and proper watering, you will start to see new baby leaves in line 30 days,, dont worry.

Hi , l really liked your video and it’s very useful. I love citrus plants. I am living in London and l have hot green house for winter. I have some problem regarding my kaffir lime mature plant. I bought this plant 2 years back and I did proper care good flowers and fruit as well. Last winter we got very cold weather due to that all leaves fell out. Then during march l did replant my kaffir plant then I got leaves again but l lost the smell. No smell in my kaffir plant any more. This year it’s absolutely fine lots of healthy leaves and more are coming as well but l got different strong smell leaves. Can you please guide me how l will back my kaffir leafs smell and fruits. It’s a mature plant. Thanks
@marcelinanoss882510 ай бұрын
glad you liked my video,,,, there are a few reasons your Kaffir can be losing itrs fragrance and fruit abilities, remember citrus are heavy feeders and they require a lot of things for optimum growth and fruit production, first, Nutrient Deficiency: Kaffir Lime trees require proper nutrients for healthy growth and aromatic leaves. Ensure that the tree is receiving a balanced fertilizer, particularly one high in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. You may also consider adding organic matter to the soil. next, Soil pH: Kaffir Lime trees prefer slightly acidic to neutral soil. Test the soil pH and adjust it if necessary by adding lime to increase pH or sulfur to decrease pH. other things can be watering, amount of sunlight, pests etc. also check your plants roots,, is it rootbound?? maybe changging to a larger pot and new soil with high compost,,, hope this helps!!

I have a grafted Yosemite mandarin from a reputable dealer. It’s five years old, in a air pot. Blooms like crazy…no fruit…bees are active. I contacted Four Winds and they told me grafted citrus that is new to the market can have problems getting established. This is nuts though, I could have grown one from seed. I may toss it.

my lemon tree is going yellow very pale I've given it marvel and npk it has very tiny lemons on it I water it a lot and has drainage holes would it have too much water
@marcelinanoss88259 ай бұрын
there are question that i would have,, did you fertilizer too much , too often, do you water it every day and how much? Does it get enough light , is the pH of you soil correct,, so many questions to ask that i dont have the answers for without seeing it and testing different qualities, Its sort of like you telling you pediatrician your child is sick and what does he say?? Make an appointment for him. Plants and people are pretty much the same way. and your answer is yes you can give your lemon tree too much water,, too much nitrogen and burn your plant causing yellowing and leaf drop. It could be spider mites as well,, so the best approach is not to do too many things at once,, Id go with the pH first otherwise your plant can never use the fertilizer you are giving it, water it thoroughly once a week unless it is in extreme heat, then twice, but not every day. Check it very well for spider mites immediately, these are ninja killers of your plant, its dead before you know what hit it, hope this gives you a good head start

calamondin is a hybrid which means you can get fruit, but it may not be a calamondin :) It will take a seedling about 7 years to blossom,, for now just get it as big and healthy as you can . Remember to bring it inside during the winter :)

Hi, l grew a sweet citrus plant in a big pot but lately l found that my plant leaves appear to be very dry and some of the leaves dropping too. I watered my plant twice a day, dispice some leaves dropping my plant produced flowers but sadly it does turn into fruits. Kindly please advice tq.
@marcelinanoss882510 ай бұрын
ouch,, twice a day is way too much water, be careful you'll end up with root rot.. one good thorough watering a week is sufficient unless you are in a hot arizona temp. then you will need to water once more per week, simply stick your finger al the way into the soil, if there is moisture on your finger, dont way until its completely dry. Also keep a check on your pH,, 6.0 to 6.5 and give it a good phosphorus fertilizer.

Wow. I was already impatient with my calamansi (grown from seed around 2015) until I saw your video. I was already thinking of cutting it down but my love for agriculture won! I didn't know that citruses could take such time.. Mine have super big thorns! I planted it from seed when I was around 15-16 yrs old; now I'm 24. It got shaded with my Guyabano so maybe it affected its growth due to lack of sunlight. My calamansi is even taller than our house and it's trunk is even bigger than or equal of a papaya tree
@marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
get rid of the shade tree,, your citrus needs full sunlight to bear fruit

I bought a tangerine tree from hardware store, Home Depot. It’s hardly grown, if at all and it’s a bit over a year old from day we bought it. Buying plants from stores have no information on tags. Have no idea how it was propagated, is there a way to tell? Your trees I see are busy like, not tall and leggy. Long branches and not many leaves, mine is! Also, mine seems ‘leggy’, not busy. Ty for the video, it’s informative for me. I have my first citrus tree and know nothing about growing one. I’m going to watch a LOT of your videos, it’s easy to under and again, informative How do I tell if my tree has been watered enough when planted in the ground? I live just south of Tampa in Florida. I think I’m zone 9b
@marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
great! your zone is good :) no problems there, If you plant is in the pot still it most likely is root bound and will not grow much at all. Like a great white shark in a 50 gal aquarium. Easy to tell, simply pull the plant out of the pot and inspect them. Next, if you want to plant in the ground, make the hole twice as big as the root ball, place compost in the bottom of the hole and water the hole really good like till it fills up and then let it drain. Watch and see how long it takes to drain. No more and 1 minute , if longer you have clay which in Florida its mostly sand, but you never know. . Meanwhile until you get it in the ground make sure you are giving it pH neg water like 5.5 to 6.5. As for the propagation, look at the truck of the tree about 6 to 10 inches from the base. do you see a scar like on on the truck if so its grafteed which most citrus trees sold in the stores are grafted. There are a few root stocks they used as they are more disease resistant, Good Luck my friend keep watching! :)

Few months back i had bought a calamansi plant which had fruits on it for a month it gave me fruits then it stopped new flowers came but there were no fruits and currently many of my leaves have a yellow spot on it. I showed it to my local nursery they said to add cow manure to it, i added it and there were no results. Can you help as to whatt fertilizer should i use? My plant gets almost 6-7 hours of direct sunlight.
@marcelinanoss88258 ай бұрын
there are so many variables that can affect your plants ability to produce fruit. Things like the amount of sunlight, the pH of your soil, certain minerals missing in your soil, pests, but here is a good start to help you identify the issues, grab a copy of this book from Amazon. It will tell you what you need by looking at your plants leaves, www.amazon.com/dp/B0C2SM67MH check it out!

Hi Marcelina, you responded to my message about my soil PH reading of 8 in my Lime orchard. Dont know how I can change the ph of the soil for 70+ plants in the medium term. Is it possible to 'bomb' my plants with 00 00 60 fertiliser to force the plants to flower. Even the ground water ph is 8.
@marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
you going to have to add sulfur and compost, other than that you need to use containers. dont know else to tell you my friend, Your going to have to add the sulfur to your soil, sack and sacks of it.
