Rest in Peace 🙏 Tony Dow. Wally was everyone's favorite brother. Tony Dow brought that character to life. His charisma, his personality, his kind heart made Wally a great household name. He always had his brother's back. He ALWAYS loved and cherished his family. This is a great man! God Bless the family of Mr.Dow. Be with them, comfort them, give them peace please. I remember when this movie came out in 1983. I was a teenager who loved The Leave It To Beaver TV show. I remember when the Graveyard scene was shown. And the two sons were walking away from their father's grave with their mom arm in arm. Tears flowed out of my eyes like crazy. The same thing happened again when I saw that scene in the movie after Barbara BILLINGSLEY died. And now again when that scene came up. Tears flowed for Tony Dow. R. I. P. I love how, for a reunion show, they deal a lot with the mature themes of aging, grief, and loss with as much gravitas as possible and yet are still leaving time for humor. Just the scene of June saying her catchphrase...she’s lost the love of her life, and she’ll never get over it.
@ilsaramos3792 жыл бұрын
Really nice. I also like the flashbacks. Brings back a lot of memories. It's a little sad when they show Wards grave. I had an uncle that would visit his wife's grave & talk to her. I felt bad for Wally at fist, then happy he had a child at the end. June's character remained the same . Beaver's children resembles Beaver's personality when he was young. There's still a little Beaver in him. However, his wife leaving her 2 boys doesn't seem right. Beaver life is going to change pretty fast caring for those boys. Even though June is still around, not a soul can replace those 2 boys original mother. Those kids are going to grow apart from her. Later, she's going to regret it. They may just resent her later on. She'll probably blame Beaver. He may just find someone else. Anyway, glad to see the old cast now grown up still playing their original character. Love the show, old & new. A model how family should be. How much life has changed since then.

So if you want to see a moron you should look in a mirror.

Jesus, I had to stop the film from weeping when Beaver walks back into his family home & in his head he hears his recently deceased father call out "Is that you, Beev?". I have no idea why that hit me so hard. It's not from memories of my own father. Isn't it strange how strong of emotions one can feel from people you've never met? When Neal Peart of Rush died I cried for days, felt worse than when my own family passed. I think it has to do with how much they influenced & affected you & your own life?

This was how you do a reunion movie right! Bring back as many old cast members as possible, plus their offspring and then put them in new situations. While the subsequent TV show tweaked the premise slightly to make it a traditional sitcom, this was more comedy/drama. It hit the right nostalgic notes, yet didn't forget that the characters were no longer kids and had real-world problems.

I wished he was in this show to put put him in spiritually. I am a big fan of the show and love Hugh Beaumont s acting and father skills..I started looking at what Hugh Beaumont did before Leave it beaver and he had some great run of movies, such as the Lost Continent from 1951. Beaver, Jerry Mathers later on appearing on Married with children of course and I was watching. The only ones left or Richie , Larry mondel, Gilbert , Judy , Candy, Tim Matheson , Beaver himself and probably a few of the young kids such as Fred Rutherford s daughter. I also think a few of Wallys girls. I just wish they got a 7th season in. We all will remember Tony dow and how great he was in the show. Him and Beaumont weren't in the pilot episode but I'm so glad it turned out how it did. Hugh Beaumont looks alot like my late grandfather Albert.

Hope it continues for many years and more families and children watch it to see ..that understanding and caring and loving, makes for a wonderful family and future. Within a week we started getting calls asking for a Mr. Haskell, obviously bill collectors. After a while, I decided to have some fun with it and my response was "No, he moved back to Mayfield with his brother Eddie." The first few people were either too young or from overseas and did not get the reference, some even asked for an address. The last one was an older woman, first she dropped the phone, when she picked it up she was laughing and thanking me for making her day.

Eddie was the edgy one, true, but the other friends added so much offbeat spice, as well... Your comment about Eddie being the "counter-balance" to the well behaved Cleavers is spot on, and exactly what the producers had in mind, I'm sure...
@jayanxiety4 жыл бұрын
@@garywarmee4367 Yes, though I think that Eddie was originally supposed to make an occasional appearance as just another one of Wally's friends, but Eddie quickly became the breakout star of the show and fans just loved his "Bad boy" character so much that he quickly became a regular cast member. I really think he should have been listed in the opening credits with the rest of the cast.

Anxiety Entertainment, that is high praise indeed for Eddie Haskell! I'll say this for him. Isn't he the longest running Cleaver sidekick the show had, his friendship with Wally running the entire length of the series?

There's one "Leave it to Beaver" episode that was a little edgy...pushing the envelope to say the least. It was "The Box Office Attraction" episode (season 6, episode 23). Google the episode, & check it out....you can view it for free on Dailymotion.com. This is my favorite "Beaver" episode.

This was, for me, a 4-box Kleenex movie. Very well done. I lost it at the cemetery scene and when they did the beautifully synced flashback scenes. At 7:26 is when it hurt the most. ...And I am a 70 yr old guy.

I'm devastated about the loss of Tony Dow. I hope with my whole being he passed painlessly, w/o fear. I know his very loving & caring family was right at his bedside to make his final journey less scary & peacefull.

Lumpy dad passed away shortly before this movie as well?A real bummer.Overall you were very fortunate having most almost all the cast still alive and wanting to be involved here.I didn't recall the movie I was looking for the new beaver shows,& the still the beaver did ring a bell though. I really appreciate your taking the time with this.An old Betamax machine huh?That's awesome.I had a Betamax in like 1993 and I had old stereo receivers with turntables and 8 tracks late into the nineties also. Eddie is golden.I heard him say he is always recognized,and when people see him they want to buy him a drink,& feel as tho they've run into a long lost childhood friend.I hafta say I would feel very much the same.I believe I used to see the new Beaver on tv,on TBS I guess but I believe we had reruns on syndication for a time on most likely KSTW out of Seattle/Tacoma.I'll go now b4 I talk all day.I do appreciate your taking the time.Beaver is one thing I've discovered in recent years means something to me,& just how appropriate and value able of programming it is,esp as tv quality & morality slips.Thank you kindly...

Glad you enjoy so much; thanks for sharing your thoughts and remembrances. And yes, there were some syndicated reruns of The New Leave it to Beaver in the early-to-mid 1990s in some territories - Canada for sure. FYI, actually, this is Richard Deacon in this reunion movie Still the Beaver, the original actor who played Lumpy's father Mr. Rutherford. But yes, he died before the follow-up Still the Beaver series began on The Disney Channel 1 1/2 years later, and was replaced with another actor in the role.

Another person pretending that you can't find family programs on TV. Please stop it. I am sure that there were no family channels back then. TV is better in many ways today. You can watch family programs on KZbin, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. Watch PBS. Watch the UP network. There are Catholic channels and channels that broadcast church all day long. There are channels that show family westerns. There is the Disney Channels and other cable channels. If you have not found family shows to watch, you are not look for them. There have always been people with good morals and others with bad morals. That has not changed. I guess you just want life to go back to theway it was when you were growing up with things were segregated and life was more difficult for certain people. I am glad that I did not have to grow up back then and deal with things like that. Life was easy for certain people, but much harder for others because of their skin. People of this generation are creating good family shows. You have to make the decision to watch them. There are good people in this generation too.
