@shettrick5 жыл бұрын
I don't remember that -- it would have come before the original 1960s show, so it could not have been a clip from the old show. Therefore, they would have had to hire new young actors to play young Ward and June to re-create that proposal.

It wasn't just the Cleavers - every family got dressed nicely to go to school events, dinner at a restaurant, concerts, etc. At the time of the original Leave it to Beaver series of the 1950s-60s, everyone dressed nicely and men wore suit, tie and top hat to go to baseball games and fly on airplanes.

I thought Miss Landers was the grammar school teacher.
@shettrick Жыл бұрын
Miss Landers (Sue Randall) was new to Grant Avenue Elementary School and was Beaver's teacher in 2nd-4th seasons. The actress suffered for many years with various injuries and ailments and died of cancer in 1984 at age 49 before this episode was produced. The Principal in this episode of Still the Beaver, Miss Canfield (Diane Brewster), was the first teacher we saw for Beaver during his second grade in the entire first season of Leave it Beaver. She was also a new teacher to Grant Avenue.
@chrisrose6014 Жыл бұрын
@@shettrick then where did this teacher crop up? I believe there was a male teacher for beaver's class near the end of the series and while the name used in this episode might've been the same the actor sure isn't!
@shettrick Жыл бұрын
@@chrisrose6014 Oh you mean the male teacher here, Mr. Bloomgarden - the name seen and mentioned multiple times. No connection to original series, where the male teachers Beaver had at Grant Avenue Grammar School (all only in final two seasons) were Mr. Blair/actor Wendall Holmes (new 6th/7th grade teacher of math and history first half of 5th season); Mr. Bailey/actor Ed Prentiss (6th/7th grade teacher of English); and a few others, Misters Colins, Watson and Thompson. So, even though this Mr. Bloomgarden makes comments that make it sound like he's been at the school since Beaver was a student, neither that teacher nor the actor William Schallert was on the original series from 1957/63 (remember this revival series takes place more than 20 years after original Leave it to Beaver series, so Miss Canfield has since been promoted to Principal and many other new/different teachers started working at Grant Avenue Grammar School.)

@jaredjlinden3 жыл бұрын
Stephen Talbot didn’t feel that an appearance on this show would help his career as a filmmaker. Plus, he thought the quality of the new series wasn’t very good. He did do a video reminiscing with Jerry Mathers in the last year or two, and I believe it’s the first time he’s had anything to do with the show since the original airings.

Thanks for your opinion which is valid for you even though it is different than the opinion of the millions of viewers who made it the second most popular TV movie on network television in 1983 and the hundreds of thousands who watched new episodes every other week on The Disney Channel for a year, where it was their highest-rated original series in 1984-85, and kept it running for three more seasons on TBS Superstation from 1986-89 where it reached 101 total episodes, the equivalent of 8-12 seasons of shows by today's standards of 8-12 new episodes per season for many original scripted series. I didn't think Still the Beaver/The New Leave it to Beaver was anywhere close to the quality of the original 1950s-60s black-and-white series, but I still think it was very enjoyable to see almost all the original actors return for a revival series 20-25 years later, something you didn't see back then but which has been copied many times since.
