This'll sound dumb but I adore Bricky's ability/willingness to buy into the game. Am still early in the vid but he's reacting to the rig being so destroyed with actual gravity, not just kinda breezing past it as set design. It does a lot for immersion, being willing to actually put yourself in that circumstance. Also helps that it seems he's not too spoiled about the premise of the horror, something that's really important in general.

Also so glad you mentioned how good the sound effects are, as someone who has the most BASIC understanding of coding, it honestly kinda blows my mind how devs make sound effects like that where the sound is actually the way you would expect if like a cup rolls around the floor or something like that. Doing that in cutscenes is one thing but in gameplay honestly feels like witchcraft

Also, the studio is from England but did a lot of research into Scottish culture and the oil rigging of the time period. They nailed it ngl.

In regards the Is-It-Evil conversation, you're asking the wrong questions. The creature is a metaphor for oil and our relationship with it. It's never personified or given motive because oil doesn't have a motive. It just is, and what it does to the world is on us for not stopping when we realized there was a problem. Instead, people like Rennik just demanded we all go back to work and keep making money. The Mess that Suz keeps bringing up isn't about a fist fight and how it will ruin the lives of her children. It's about the mess we've made of the planet, and how it will ruin the lives of our children. "And still wakes the deep, and still on we plow."

This game really builds the horrer first its the explosion then raffs trapped in the diving bell then it’s gibbo who you never actually see but you see a dead body and hear his still half human screams for help. Then it just keeps getting worse and worse to the fleshy tendrals taking the rig the tight spaces and water and horrific monsters it’s great also Roy’s death was played so well almost had me crying how caz reacted
