The tunnel is the rail tunnel from RDR1 and the fortress is El Presidio. There’s also a grave yard just a short way from the rail tunnel. 👍🏼

It's amazing. Finding the source of the Kamassa River was my highlight. Just don't stand too close to the waterfall near there or the game will force you off the edge. 😆

worked like a charm! thank you for posting this video :D it was a tad nervewracking glitching underwater but surprisingly my stamina didnt drain the entire time. It pulsed red like it was supposed to be draining, but nothing came out of my core. also i had to run around a bit at the same location you were at in order for my horse to spawn but it eventually did! overall its great and something to do in the meantime before Rockstar decides to give us any substantive updates :)

I chased that barking from the dog last time we were in Mexico and stay clear of the Pinnacle Spires that are out there on the map they are ghosts and if you try to climb them you'll fall through the map!!!!......yeah that's what happened

They fully rendered for me, I could stand on them. A few of the normal rocks that would wipe out your horse, I just rode through no problem though 🤣

I kept climbing up the mountains for a very long time until the textures were changing then when I got very far I saw a small area of water that you can swim in which was quite cool seeing as I was miles away from the start of mexico

Question is why did they build a fortress out on the Mexico side? Clearly they are working on something for online. Maybe we will get that Mexico expansion like GTA online got the casino expansion. We can only hope.

That'd be nice, but there's an explanation for that fortress being there. It is called El Presidio, it is the only Mexico building from Red Dead Redemption 1 that you can see from across the US border, so it was added there just to keep this consistency, it was never meant to be seen that close in RDR2 since technically the player was never supposed to be able to reach Mexico.

Austin have you ever played the original red dead? That area that you’re in is in the original. It has a train there’s a hotel that has cities it has Mexican bandits. It’s really cool, even has canon fire.

Even worked perfectly on PC. Just used an Xbox controller for the slide/sticks/sprint maneuver until I was across the river and did a good amount of exploring once I was there. Thanks for this!

They were actually going to set an entire Chapter of red dead 2 in Mexico but they changed their mind for some reason, I think they replaced it with Guarma because thats where Arthur escaped to in Chapter 5, and Mexico would make sense as a place for an Outlaw Gang to escape to, but Guarma was also an interesting addition, to spite it not being available in free roam in any other Chapters or in RDO.

Native American tribes wouldn’t have existed anymore in the 1900s. They were practically dead at this stage. The natives in the story are a resurgence group trying to get the ball rolling again, but Native American tribes are basically non existent in this time period.

@Left Noob my only other problem with Mexico would be travelling around there. Even a horse struggles to traverse the terrain there imagine how tedious it would be trying to deliver a wagon somewhere or searching the area on a bounty or legendary animal mission 🤣

@Left Noob yeah I’d hope so but I’m not 100% sure if they would just because there is already a “road system.”I put it in quotations because they aren’t exactly perfect roads even to the standard of the actual map but if you stand on a few of the cliffs and look around there are definite paths throughout the area. I just prefer to cut corners and not have to follow the road everywhere 🤣

You can also do it at the old Bacchus Place and get across to the dock on the other side in Mexico, you can call in you’re horse there and it takes less time, but it’s harder to start sliding

You can get on top of the arched rock without dismounting or jumping plus it makes for a cool video thumbnail if you rear your horse on top of it. If you approach from the river heading directly towards it, to the right of it there is a big slope you can get to the top of the cliffs by riding up. Then you just go across the ridge until you’re on top of the arch 👌🏿👌🏿

This works in single player but couldn’t get my horse. Hoofed it all over for a look but honestly, it’s fairly pointless - it’s cool to check it out the one time I guess but there’s no animals, no npcs, no nothing. There’s dogs barking but you can’t see any. Anyway thanks for the vid, was good to finally make it into Mexico anyways.

was showing this method to friends about a month ago and while going on a trip around the entire map my friend lost her horse when we reached the area next to little creek we found some wild horses so she could use one of those and finish the mexico canada mexico around the map journey (look for animals in canada and for piramids in southern mexico they're amazing)

Mexico in both the red dead games is more White than New Austin, which is more Red and Beige.

In Mexico right now & hear the dog, also some roosters. Have been able to kill some ravens around the Presidio but other than that I think it's all ambient sound.
