Dang look at those plates go! I never thought of using a clear housing so you can see what's happening. Great idea there.

i am quite the tinkerer and i found this video at random, but i dont understand. -the input of liquid comes for the bottom? -the copper bells are acting as funnel valve to condensate the vapour between each level? -why not make a simple jacket condenser with water cooling instead?

What are you using for cooling water control? I think our hoses and valves are too big which makes keeping the dephlegmator input temperature constant very difficult.
@StillDragonORG9 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Maguire What you see in the video was a test setup with a solenoid valve, which is overkill in most cases. It's generally just push connect needle valves and fitting 12 mm hoses that do the job just fine. All the necessary parts for dephlegmator and product condenser cooling are offered by your responsible StillDragon® distributor. For more information on that topic, try the following tag search at the StillDragon® Community Forum: www.stilldragon.org/discussions/tagged/cooling

I run a danfoss on my other still to save water but it seems to be too robust for RC on this setup. I'm fine with needle valves, my operation is pretty manual.
@StillDragonORG9 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Maguire WTG! Absolutely no need for automation, add a thermo tee to the outflow of the condensers and you are good to go for a fine grained and water saving operation with needle valves at the inflows. If cooling water is sparse, a recirculating system is the solution, there is quite some info about that on the forum. If you have any questions, please post to the forum, because I'm just the administrator and KZbin comments are not very suited for discussions.

Great job. Let's say I've built or bought the exact same set, for making distilled water to use in cars radiators, what's the maximum amount of liters can be produced from it? Sorry for bad English.

How much utilized power kw/h this column?
@StillDragonORG7 жыл бұрын
It's is more a question of boiler size than column for power requirement. A pot belly boiler in this size can usually be used with up to three immersion heating elements from 2000 to 5500W (though that's most likely overkill). The more power you have available, the shorter the heat-up time, it can be turned down quite a bit during the actual run. Out of all the videos and stuff I've read I still don't understand the equation or the theory on how much you're supposed to get rid of the heads

The plated column helps compress the heads. Getting rid of the heads is something for later, when doing the separation by nosing. Just too bad you stole the "Crystal dragon" idea from someone else..
@StillDragonORG9 жыл бұрын
Dear Kalle, this looks like a deja vu to me, you made a similar negative comment to one of our other Crystal Dragon videos on 20th February. The idea of a glass column is not new, but making it all modular is, and that's what StillDragon is all about. I though I already made that point clear in the other discussion. StillDragon User Group You guys seem to like making money on other peoples ideas. Now well..so be it. Btw..the guy runs his own distillery now.

Kalle Klæp Dear Kalle, if you search the net you will find out that it's the other way around, copycats stealing from StillDragon. As said, it's not about basic principles in design or distilling, but getting it all done modular. Some of the used items are regular ones, others are custom made, with a completely modular design it all has to fit together nicely. The StillDragon Distribution Network is a business, but StillDragon is more than just that, it's a friendly global community of really talented distillers from hobby scale to large distilleries. Visit our community forum and have a look for yourself. Greetings, Moonshine - Your Devoted Forum Administrator of the StillDragon Community Forum - www.StillDragon.org

93mclaren Dear 93mclaren, never mind, Kalle obviously did not understand what this was all about. Have a look out for our images, they are all over, and the copycats do not even to bother removing the watermarks. Most new development is a group effort and done on the StillDragon® Community Forum, have a look for yourself. A lot of fancy equipment that most of us home distillers can't even recognize, no explanation of the equipment or process, what's happening or what SHOULD be happening and no idea what results to expect. Thanks for wasting eight minutes of my day.
