📋 *𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆* 📋
The toponym is attested for the first time in 827 as Pressena. The belonging of the founders of the city, the Brixeneti, to the Etruscan-Rhaetian group lead to the etymology with root Etruscan Φersu....
....(Paersonius/Porsaenna, with the meaning of great person/s, (as, for example, the king of the Etruscan Chiusi, Porsenna was called).
Therefore the name means "city founded/ruled by great people/great man". Early medieval documents of 827 still report the name Pressena for the city.

Riccardo, very stunning town in this region North- East of Italy in the heart of the Italian Alps, just below Austria. Most Italian town in the the north closer to western Europe are very beautiful, this one is no exception. I enjoyed the Christmas market with lots of people, one of the largest I have seen this year. Thanks for your efforts in filming this very beautiful town at Christmas.

Since your walks showcase « real Italia », I like walks such as this one or your dusks ones where the real italian way of life (passeggiatta, open air markets, etc...) is showcased as well. Crazy how the architecture here differs from what we normally associate with Italy. And the numerous german inscriptions (signs, building and store names, etc...) are a surprise at first. Another great discovery from a lesser-known, but stunningly beautiful part of your country. Piazza Hartmann is nice! Happy New Year Ric!
