The song is not about struggling with life generally, it's very plain about our physical vulnerability and the uselessness of killing people by violence. To be precise, it's dedicated to a US civil engineer named Ben Linder who was killed by Nicaraguan rebels in the Eighties. Just to let you know...

This was his profound closing number last night - after a raucous and engaging evening, Sting ended with this gentle gem 💎 We just saw Sting live in Boston last night - a wonderful performance, still energetic and unpretentious, and for his final number of the night (the encore was “ROXANNE”, and he did it the usual way and also a slower version), he said: “I’m gonna do something my cousin told me, we’re gonna end on a quiet and thoughtful song so that everyone goes home in a quiet and thoughtful mood.” ❤❤❤ cool thoughtful dynamic and generous spirit. Sting’s a true class act, and an amazing concert experience. Much love and good vibes to anyone and everyone reading this. Stay safe out there, and know that this world IS moving forward. 💙

I followed Sting from the get go when he was in the police, I have a number of his albums, he simply is one of the best artists I have been privileged to live at the same time. I saw him in concert at Wembley arena with my best mate when Sting first went out as a solo artist. A number of years later my friend, he was like my brother I never had died suddenly, and the first song I heard after his passing was fragile. So this song means so much to me and John loved this track.

the album this song came from was released in 1987, that would narrow down when you were in Paris and joe q public was blasting out music on a boombox... as for the song, I don't think anyone can complain about it or what it says. I'm sure it even got the passengers on the bus to shut up for a few minutes.

For people who want to sing along, enjoy :) If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one Drying in the color of the evening sun Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away But something in our minds will always stay Perhaps this final act was meant To clinch a lifetime's argument That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could For all those born beneath an angry star Lest we forget how fragile we are On and on the rain will fall Like tears from a star Like tears from a star On and on the rain will say How fragile we are How fragile we are On and on the rain will fall Like tears from a star Like tears from a star On and on the rain will say How fragile we are How fragile we are If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one Drying in the color of the evening sun Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away But something in our minds will always stay On and on the rain will fall Like tears from a star Like tears from a star On and on the rain will say How fragile we are How fragile we are On and on the rain will fall Like tears from a star Like tears from a star On and on the rain will say How fragile we are How fragile we are On and on the rain will fall Like tears from a star Like tears from a star On and on the rain will say How fragile we are
