I love the sign language from that safety worker. Probably the crew working on the upside down car have control of the radio, so that safety crew member did an awesome job of getting his point across without using the radio.

The things that stand out to me as someone who watches mostly F1: The safety crew is astounding. They don't mess around they're just THERE. Massive respect for that. Also the reactions from the drivers after the crash are pure gold. "All good just get this f@#er off me" was my favorite

A lot has to do with prestaging teams at every track entrance. In the old times, you had maybe two or three teams and they weren't always right where the crash happened.

Dr Gary Hartstein wanted a full time safety crew for F1 modeled off the Indycar crew when he was the medical chief. FIA shut down the plan based off costs. Like he said in F1 you're relying on track volunteers most of the time who only have rudimentary training. The Indycar safety team is made up of full time paramedics and firefighters who train specifically for what they might encounter in the series.

As for kirkwood, yeah it definitely mightve saved kirkwoods life Also something to note in regard to your last sentence - sting ray actually didnt walk away, he was put on a stretcher. Rossi shouldn't have been on the line, and him being there at a dangerously low speed caused the incident. It's the racing equivalent of driving 35 in the left lane in a 70 zone. Rossi was a rolling hazard to everyone else on track.

This is on Rossi, get your car of the racing line if you are going to be that much slower. Robb coming off turn 2 at speed has nowhere to go. You saw the other guys reacting to the wreck lifted and spinning themselves out.

Let remember, this was McLarens' fault. All teams have to put in the least amount of fuel in the tanks as weight affects speed. But Mclaren took that to ridiculous standards. Rossi was being told to majorly save fuel with 15 laps to go, I mean major fuel savings. On the last lap he was beyond fumes. When you are on an oval, and a car is operating on 70%, that's a danger for everyone.

Aplready read a couple of articles that stated that McLaren did not know he was that close on fuel. If you get on the on board camera feed from Rossi's car, you can hear the engine start to pull away from turn 2 and then go flat, a split second later Robb hit him. I don't think he had time to start his move to get out of racing line.

Rossi's team will do anything to deflect considering they didn't tell him to get off the racing line while effectively stalling out. The team is at as much fault as he is. Nothing srr could do why did Rossi blame him? Rossi just started slowing and SRR couldn't go down or up because of the groove and new tarmac. He was gonna crash into Rossi or the wall no matter what because Rossi was sitting on line with zero acceleration and he didn't try to move off line at all. With only one groove that was literally the most stupid thing Rossi could have done, practically like brake testing someone in a one lane tunnel
