What a blessing to see and hear this. Rosemary Gladstar has been a constant inspiration to me since I first found her book ‘MEDICINAL HERBS A Beginner’s Guide.’ How wonderful is it to walk into that perfect, just right niche that God/Goddess/Mother Nature chooses for us so early in her life and to follow through her entire life! Her willingness to share with the world should be a lesson to us all. And thank you, Rosalee, for your new podcasts. You have already taught me so much and now with your podcasts I look forward to much more.

Thanks Rosalee! I was wondering what was coming up that it would interest me so, Rosemary. ;-) I just discovered a you tube channel of a family in rural Russia where they show how the cook their local foods and Nettle is widely used. They make like a mini calzone filled with cooked nettle and then boiled this as a ravioli. But the Pesto, ooh yes, I will need to try this. Maybe like the parsley pesto in your Alchemy of Herbs. I love that pesto. We will not tell the Dandelions. LOL. PS: I tried to walk without shoes on the grass; the fire ants really enjoyed it. Hahahaha. Oooh, they bite so hard. I can't walk barefoot here. It is risky. Hahaha. We live in South Carolina. I have to plant nettle from seed. It is pretty dry hot in the summer months. Dandelions and violets are happy for a short window that when I see them I rather enjoy their beauty. I have planted seed, but they are slowly multiplying. Soon I will be able to harvest them in abundance.

Thank you both for this video on nettles. It is a rare treat for me, and I'm sure everyone here too, to be able to learn from two great herbalists. I have been so wanting Stinging nettle in my life, and my own patch to cultivate for a long, long time because she is so hard for me to find in my neck of SC midlands. To my amazement, this Spring, Nettle blessed me finally with a healthy stinging glorious plant. She has put her roots down in my new raised bed in the Soil3 humus compost bedding we filled it with. As of Summer solstice, she is already starting to put out trailing seed stalks and I found the older the plant, the less sting she has on the upper leaves. I would love to learn more about how to grow and propagate, harvest and use Nettle-as well as other types of medicinal herbs. This video was a start. Thank you.

Love you both...this was great and you two are such great inspirations for me and generations of plant people. I spent a nettle harvest day years ago using bare hands with the intention of connecting more deeply with the plants and to see if intention altered the sting. It was a great experience and a great harvest...and my thumb and forefinger were numb for a couple of days. ;^)

What a perfect way to start your podcasts Rosalee. Thankyou so much! Rosemary Gladstar is such a great blessing to us all and to hear her sharing her love of Nettle (mine too), is an absolute delight. Together the two of you, so generously sharing your wisdom and joy is the best gift of all. Nesto is definately on my to do list as soon as my nettle returns in abundance. I usually eat the fresh tips and seeds straight from the plant but will endevour to make it to the kitchen :-) Until next time xxx

Those are all lovely diuretics so that explains that effect! The diuretic effect could lessen a bit overtime, but if it's still bothersome after a couple of weeks then I would drink less diuretic teas.

Great information - I love nettle too, but there's no way I can eat them raw, as even a tincture made from fresh nettles from my garden (infused for 6 weeks), caused me to feel a stinging sensation throughout my body for a long time - not fun. Also, the name of the Tibeten yogi saint who lived on nettles and even turned green from them is Milarepa, not Milarapra.
