Mike Stinnett shows how he carves a half-sized Grizzly Bear Skull from a beautiful piece of Curly Maple wood. He used an Arbortech Mini Carver with a Mini-Pro blade to rough the shape out.

Thank you, Mr. Stinnett hope, you're doing well, you have a talent not many do I don't think I would ever have that much talent, I'm 16 years old, today is my birthday.. I enjoy the outdoors and carpentry but am no good at carving. . You have a talent like no other, just hearing the sounds of nature and carving soothes the soul for me.

By just enjoying carpentry you are halfway there. Like they say 90% passion and 10% is work....all you need to do is be just as good as Mr Stinnet or even being better one day. So keep following your passion and who knows some day soon you will be putting out videos like this about your carpentry skills👌👍

Gonna give encouragement, I started to carve wood like 6/7 months ago... and I've surprised myself and my family at what I've been able to create. I am 44 years old. I hope to carve wood for the next 25 years if I'm lucky. It's never too late! Besides your at the beginning of Your Amazing Life that you get to construct & at 15 you have the whole WORLD in front of you. Become whatever you can Dream! Jus my oppinion 😃

You got this! People will always defeat themselves by saying "I have no talent" but talent is not something we're born with, it's something that's driven by passion, devotion, and love. If you keep practicing and striving to improve, you'll gain talent. All you need is a set of inexpensive manual carving tools and a block of wood. The first creation won't be amazing, expect it to look wonky or weird, but every creation after that...is a moment to take the next step forward. The journey is the ultimate goal, there is no end point, just you, a piece of wood, and passion. Never sell yourself short, you can do this! I say this as an artist myself.

I started carving about 2 years ago. I am 64 years young. Last week I was at Montreal's comiccon selling my little characters. My mom used to tell me " If you could tell a bumblebee it is too big to fly and his wings can't support his weight, it would never be able to fly ". Listen to your passion, you will succeed

I had an uncle back in the 60's and 70's who carved. I don't remember him using any power tools. One piece I remember was a chain he carved about 7 - 8 feet long. Said it was hard not breaking the links when he separated them. All done with carving knives are probably his jack knife too. He was a great craftsman like you.

Mike, your curly maple depiction of Old Ephriam's skull appears every bit as formidable and authentic appearing as the genuine article would, save for the eye-catching enhancement of the wood grain. What I'd give to buy you lunch and talk. I am from North Idaho but live in Spokane Valley now. I have a trucking company and work on the North Slope in Alaska. I have a wood shop that I miss so much. But because of your videos I carry a dremel with me in the truck and a folding chair and an extension cord . On my 34 hour resets. I find some shade and a stick from nearby and do little carvings to pass the time. I have certainly learned a lot from you! Thank you so much for sharing with us. You have helped me so much.
