If someone left a thumbs down ??? They must be a bit sad ? Jealous ? or, it was a Human error, how can you not give this master carver a massive thumbs 👍 up. My art in my earlier years was fairly good, now I'm a lot more older and discovered wood carving, well happy, it's people like this sharing thier skills and artistic flare that gives us mere mortals inspiration to strive for better results for ourselves. Watched many of these and will continue to do so. Cheers Les.

floydbundy, isn’t it cool that artistic talent progresses this way? Mike showed us his first stick and it’s better than anything I could do, but artists strive for perfection. With this chickadee one, he spent some serious time with every detail. Watch out for the next one, he’s in a mood now.

I am a carver and a walking sticks particularly. After watching your videos I am revising what I do in making a walking stick. I am a tribal elder and my walking sticks reflect my Odawa/Lakota background. You have given me some ideas in progressing to doing more carving. I would like to spend a month visiting you and Pearl, but my health won't let me. Your videos are a great inspiration and some I watch over and over. I can't wait to get started as soon as the weather warms up. Miigwech (many thanks) for your tutorials, especially your treks to gather the blanks you need. We don't have lodge pole pine here, so I am going to try yellow pine. Most, if not all, of my walking sticks are diamond willow.

@DolliBunny5 жыл бұрын
good question! I imagine it takes around 2 -4 days, including painting. You'll be surprised at how much time artists put into their work!
@RoughRiderFORlife5 жыл бұрын
That even makes it more amazing!! No disrespect to the typical artist, who puts paint on a canvas, moves it around with a brush, or spatula. No offence...I love Bob Ross, who was amazing! But what you do is so much more! What you create from a dead piece of decomposing wood, is mind blowing. Whether your burning in each feather on the chickadee, or adding the scales one-by-one on your snakes sticks...with that cool as heck scale burner. The detail of each hair on the Wolf, and various Mice sticks you've made, and the the cholla cactus, from the Southwestern cane...it's just so cool!! I take my hat off to you! The color's, and movement, and attention to the smallest detail, is just on another level...and truly amazing! Everything look so real...like a moment captured in time. Very cool! Only someone who is inspired by GOD, could create the things you do!!! Well done my friend.

@@RoughRiderFORlife ... I agree with your comments about Mr. Stinnett's many talents, and I truly believe that the KEY to all of his beautiful work is just as you said: "Only someone who is inspired by GOD, could create the things you do!!!" The artistic gifts are given BY GOD who then inspires the artists to use those gifts in amazingly creative ways like this. And I'll also add one more God-given characteristic of this wood-carving artist ... he has "the patience of Job" to be able to spend so much time on each project with such painstaking attention to detail! (And I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that a project like this walking stick required far more than just 2-4 days.)

@@onlycoldbones4107 An Eagle may be a bit to large of a Bird to carve with any realism on a Walking stick. He has the Talent to carve any type of Bird, Bug, Snake, or other critter on a walking stick. We just need to keep the size of the critter to a relevant size for the proper perspective.
