Great video and it's nice to know what mesh mixer can offer. The way I would do it since it's not organic is, i would import the model is lightwave or any 3d modeling program and subdivide the area enough so that i can weld the verts. that will give you a cleaner model in many ways and will make slicing a lot easier.

I hope you feel better soon. I do have a question for you and that is which enclosed printer would you suggest to purchase? Since my old Prusa I3's bed will never work right unless I spend 250 USD, or more, for a shop to work on a MIC6 bed (priced from 3 sources so far) I might as well toss this print in the garbage and buy one I know the bed will come flat and I can print on it. I have been looking around but I am completely turned off by the manufacturers going to a MK10 style hotend which will not do anything over 250c since the PTFE tube goes all the way to the orifice of the nozzle which is nuts. Any suggestions since you have played around with a bunch of them?

so with mesh mixer you can seperate shells to remove an item but then mesh mixer will not let you save it again without a lot of messing about correct? i downloaded a model and it had its own supports but when you remove the supports they will damage the model as you cannot access the connection point

I have a gauntlet that I want to print. I need to split it in many parts but I have an issue... Between the inside and outside wall its hollow and I want it to be filled so its stronger. How can I do that? When I cut it the remesh fill it all even in the middle where my arm is supposed to go. I can send the file if needed cause its kinda hard to explain. Would really like to learn how to do this. Thanks!

Hey man I just noticed that netfabb doesn't exist anymore as it got sorta like blended into fusion 360, is there any other way to upload projects to the cloud so the both shells can become a single solid one? Hi am still learning on Meshmixer and it say print on the bottom and it on a makerbot replicator 2 platform what is that all about can I slice with Meshmixer if so how
@MakersMuse8 жыл бұрын
+mike mun No, meshmixer can't be used to slice but it can send files to some programs for slicing. For your replicator 2 you're pretty much stuck with makerbot or Simplify 3D as far as I know.

@jeevesme8 жыл бұрын
@Makers Muse Since you have Simplify3D, you can also import each of the components separately and combine them by manually placing them together. When you slice it, it will slice them as one object. This is handy for simple stuff like this.
@Kridcha8 жыл бұрын
If you have two or more shell and you slice with Simpifly3D, try menu Mesh > Separate connected surfaces before click "Prepare to Print!" button. I think it's a bug of Simpifly3D that can't slice intersect body of model correctly.
@MakersMuse8 жыл бұрын
+กริชชา อัชฌาบริรักษ์ Wow that IS a bug! I tested it and it worked. It's still good practice to combine shells though because other slicers like the ones for the UP! Don't have this ability. Cheers!

This is something that would be really easy to do in Blender, actually. Limited dissolve to switch to N-gons for easier selection, select the faces, extrude or translate into the gun body, then select the barrel and gas port regions and the face of the gun, then self-intersect (knife, for Blender should never be used for booleans if you can avoid it). Then its just cleanup by deleting the non-manifold faces left inside the gun. Now its manifold and a single continuous piece.
@stshstsh078 жыл бұрын

@joakimeliasson32448 жыл бұрын
So why aren't you just using a polygon modeler? I feel like 3ds max and a cup of your favorite beverage would do a better job. But if youre using meshmixer can't you just make both meshes touch eachother without any tolerence and therefor print as one thing without inner BS?
@XAD5668 жыл бұрын
Yeah and 3DS is cheaper than meshm...... Oh wait, no it's not. And blender is not great with triangles
@joakimeliasson32448 жыл бұрын
For the record, I did say polygon modeler.. So any would probably be fine. I just mentioned 3ds max since it is my prefered program. The meshmixer program did okey, but if you are a novice user you would be better of learning a polygon modeler rather than a middle ground software that is somewhat useful but heavily dependent on your models topology.
