It's not a good platform for a handgun cartridge. I get the concept of wanting a carbine. They just don't make carbines anymore. Just get a M4 clone if you want a carbine. This is a waste of money. Buy a purpose-built platform like a Beretta Cx4 if you want a pistol caliber carbine for some insane reason. It's cheaper just to shoot 7.62x39 if you want an AK

i think there was a weird beretta with a helical mag twenty years ago or so. it was very spaceship looking and was reportedly not very reliable. but this thing definitely looks good.

@@gypsyhydra6801 really depends on quality of ammo and how fast you fire it. I personally just wouldn’t trust it unless you put a fostech echo binary in it. It has a built in OOB safety. Thats solves any issue completely, bit its pricey

Very very cool! I may have to add another 9mm ak variant to the collection. I have a very early Pak9 from when they were first being imported years ago and nobody was making any other 9mm ak variants. I worked retail at the time and I distinctly remember all of my coworkers and friends making fun of my Pak9 until we went to the range. "It's heavy. It's ugly. It doesn't use curved magazines." blahblahblah. Not a few years later, PSA, CenturyArms, and KUSA all jumped on the bandwagon and listened to the market. I'm thankful they did, because now we have cool ideas like this coming out of the woodwork. Bizons are just cool looking at that is very hard to debate. Even people that don't like aks or non-box style magazines have to show some respect.

I just pulled my AKV apart to get it ready. My magwell was also held in by 2 screws under the barrel at the front of the receiver. So 3 screws total.

I actually asked magpul to make a bizon/helical magazine a while ago. Hopefully this is successful enough to get other companies to make them to and we can have a massive amount of these mags out there. Why? Because they're friggin cool. Nothing against this company, I hope they're beyond successful with this product, but I'd just like to see the market full of these like drum mags.

I assume since there is no tension on the mag unless its in the gun that you can leave it loaded as long as you want with out worrying about wearing any of the springs out prematurely

What about the PSA AK-V with the MOE front end? In the past to add a MOE front part you were to cut off that handguard retainer. You may want to look into that, because now your handguard will not tightly lock together.

If you hold the bolt to the rear, then there is no need to relieve tension on the spring, which would keep the rounds in place. If you hold the bolt to the rear and spring tension is releases you can possibly lose rounds depending on how you orient the firearm.

can this magazine work in other firearms that accept ak v magazines ? if so someone needs to make a video about that, if not , someone needs to 3d print a gun that accepts this or a calico magazine, the calico mac upper im pretty sure is full auto only and good luck getting that new from calico anyways.but yeah, realluy hoping the helical 9mm mag becomes the new thing, drum mags are stupid clumsy and bulbous, we need this kind of stuff on the civ market.
