I had 2 vials of sculptra in the mid-face region. I'm an avid runner... so there was some noticeable hollowing out in my mid-face. About 10 weeks after the treatment I looked in the mirror and thought wow, I look 27 (I am 32). Anything that takes 5 years off of my face is something i'll do again!

I have had Sculptra personally and can attest to it doing what it says it does. However, I’ve read lately that the downside of Sculptra is that, in the process of creating new collagen and elastin, it creates fibrotic scar tissue. One doctor claimed that, after one of his patients received numerous treatments over many years, her skin was hard “and almost crispy”. Have you personally examined, under a microscope, skin biopsies that have undergone numerous or many Sculptra treatments? Do you believe Sculptra is an appropriate and beneficial treatment long term?
@jamiecarr934111 ай бұрын
@@nutech1810 I saw the doctor’s response that I referred to on RealSelf. He was responding to a woman who had undergone Sculptra injections and was asking about healing and scar management if she also underwent a surgical facelift sometime following that (I can’t recall if she asked about weeks, months or years following Sculptra). Her plastic surgeon had reservations as did the doctor on RealSelf, siting the case where he was aware of a woman who had numerous Sculptra injections over the course of a number of years and that her skin was hard “and almost crispy”. There was no mention of how many Sculptra treatments or the # of years she had been treated (perhaps it was an “over the top case”) nor was there mention of whether other factors existed that may have contributed to her skin’s eventual, unfortunate response. My point, and concern, is that what looks great on the outside may actually be harming us on the inside and/or creating irreparable damage that we are not aware of until it is too late. We know this happens often, unfortunately. I simply want to do my best to stay informed of the chances of serious issues down the road with what I use. I may not be planning a surgical facelift, but potentially “hard and crispy” skin is something, in itself, that can’t be good. I just want doctors, influencers, sales people, marketers, manufacturers, etc to understand the potential impacts of these products and share this knowledge widely.

One thing I noticed and confirmed by anecdotal evidence, it takes much longer to activate in older people-so the standard advice of 1 vial per decade I don’t buy - as you’re older, add several more months to see full effect, be patient- and the effect is subtle and natural

It's so confusing listening to different doctors talk about different procedures. Dr. Ben Tali has said Sculptra causes bad collagen, like scar tissue and has seen it when doing face lifts. He also said Ellacore isn't good either, which Dr. Kaplan praises. Then Dr. Kaplan says treatments like Morpheous/Profound are bad which Dr. Tali praises. Super confusing as a patient/consumer.
