At 27:50 check out his combination Bf5, Qe2, Qxc3+, (forced to take) bxc3, Ba3+ (forced to block with the Queen), Bxb2+, Kxb2, Rxd1 Black ends up with four pieces against 3, the latter all are undeveloped and black will have a better winning endgame , so Bf5 was better than Bf4 as the bishop cut out the escape route for the king and allowed for the exchanges that I explained above. Just food for thought.

@johnmartorana1967 жыл бұрын
I'm not that good, so I may be missing something. In what he's calling the "main line", why does the white queen always retreat back to where it started after taking the pawn? My guess was that going to b3. It attacks b7 pawn, keeps a line on f7, doesn't leave it open to discovered rook attacks later, etc. In a lot of the games shown, it ends up on b3 later or would have preferred to be there. Is there some sort of trap or obvious thing I'm missing?
@dylanperry3777 жыл бұрын
Only thing I can think of is that as a general rule of thumb you don't want to dedicate your queen to a certain square or file to early, because you can not be certain where she will be needed after development. Moving the queen out before development is risky for obvious reasons. Giving your opponent numerous chances to develop with tempo is the most obvious. Keeping her on her original square keeps her safe and her possibilities open.

Hallo Jonathan + chess friends. White has a rare deviation in the early moves which starts with 1..d4 d5 2.c4. e6 3. Nc3 c5 4.cd cd4 3 de6: setting a trap forking King + Knight and promoting to a knight and winning the Queen after BG5. Mostly Black captures with Be:e6. What's the verdict. Could this be better for White than the main lines? Or it is another choice for Black.

hi, can you make variation against the London system?
@BREAKocean8 жыл бұрын
I think London System is actually a little weak. You can attack b2 pawn as black if they don't defend it.
@michaelanthonyabenales8 жыл бұрын
coz I don't have any counterplay against the London system. it's very solid in the center. my opponent is a London player and he uses it for about 2 years, that's why I'm researching for counterplays.

5:10 You can also put the bishop on c5 to threaten checkmate and if youre playing someone 1500 or below and they havent seen this, its a easy scholars mate
@dylanperry3777 жыл бұрын
I'm 13 minutes in but I was wondering what would happen if white took the E pawn "dropping" his knight. After that of course you are attacking the queen with your queen, and then you can take f7 with check. King can't capture because you'd win the queen and if the king moves to e7, You can take the knight, and promote to a knight, if the rook takes then you can check with your bishop and win the queen that way. Don't know if this line is discussed or not, but I hope so... I know that after white takes the e pawn, the black queen could move to pin the knight, and get out of danger, but then white can recapture the D pawn with his queen. That's just one other line I looked at.
@dylanperry3777 жыл бұрын
Perhaps, Bxe6 is the easy refutation.
@arpitkumar45257 жыл бұрын
This looks very similar to the Albin Countergambit Trap with colors reversed and Black can avoid it with careful play.

Just saw a strange game in which nakamura vs volkov and naka played this as black. Volkov had an advantage then made a mistake in the endgame that turned it into a draw then he inexplicably resigned. Wth?
@leavethebasket74357 жыл бұрын
Look it up on the lichess database. Instead of Qd1 volkov played Qd2 which is the only time it's ever been played. Naka went for the endgame variation so it's transposed, but im still confused.

after Qd3 I think the best is to not move bishop and instead play rook attacks queen Rd8...if qc4 qxe3+ kb1 Bc2+ QxBc2 Qe1 qc1 rd1!: if KxB then same thing Rd2 Kb1 qe1 qc1 rd1!

watched this after scrutinizing your take on the black knights tango. Generally very good though there is a lot of fumbling through and err.... uh.... later on. I think it is best to say something along the lines of: "black here has knight and queen developed while white, though up a pawn, is VERY behind in development. And the fight continues with each side trying to exploit their strengths / weaknesses." This happens on a lot of your lectures.

Jonathan is a nice guy. But I don't like when he tries hard to be the smartest guy in the place saying : I go here (good move) You go there (bad move) that's just backwards teaching. If he says black does that white does that, it is so much better to listen to. So the listeners don't always have to be the worst players.
