No penalty - all ball no contact. Horrible call - very poor MLS officiating. 2:43 directly in the refs line of sight - no call leads to the second goal. Horrendous. This match was completely dictated by poor officiating. STL's first two goals should've never happened. The ref should be suspended. Good goals by STL though. Gioacchini is the real deal. The crowd was great as well.

@The CHAMP I wouldn't have called either. I'm actually fine with allowing play on from the ref at 2:43 . I really just came here to say that the pk call - which was poor - dictated the match. The no call at 2:43 which also led to a goal was harsher and was not called. Inconsistent officiating.

The sports rivalry between St. Louis and Kansas City goes back decades, regardless of sport ...in soccer, this goes back to the late 1970's in the Major Indoor Soccer League between the St. Louis Steamers and Kansas City Comets, or in baseball back to the 1985 World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals. The Sporting vs. St. Louis City rivalry began as soon as the addition of St. Louis City to MLS was announced, especially between the fan bases. One of those announcers, former MLS and USMNT player Taylor Twellman, who is from St. Louis, understands this
