I recently....a few days ago actually, bought a brand new Victory Jackpot. I did however have no intention to buy one. I first went to the Harley dealership and test rode a couple of Harleys but they seemed to lack something. On the encouragement of a mate I went to the Victory store and tested the JP and was in love from the get go. Another mate gave me great advise when making the decision, he said go with your heart...corny as it sounds its true. The bike you get will be your bike so whether its the history of HD or the reliability and power of VIC, you really cant go wrong as long as you ride :) ride safe, ride smart brothers and sisters, the tarmac is a hell lot harder then you think you are!

+Azi Sheikh I couldn't agree more. This year I had decided it was time to finally get the bike I had always dreamed of... a Harley Davidson! I test drove many HDs at several dealerships. Nothing jumped out at me. Good bikes... but for the most part, they were all 'meh' at best. On the advice of a friend, I tried a Victory Vegas 8-Ball. I LOVED that bike! But, I was after something a little bigger. When I got back to the dealership, I saw a Cross Country 8-Ball. I took the Cross Country out for a test drive. When I went back to the dealership, I bought it. It only took two bikes to realize that Victory was for me.

I have an 09 HD Low Rider. It has a high performance Screaming Eagle 110 on it. First, everyone will point out the obvious, I paid more! You are right. But I have a bike with classic sound and look, tons of chrome, 128 HP with 124 FPT at the rear wheel - and here is the kicker, it has never broke down. The bike is a blast to ride - and I can smoke a Jackpot! I will keep my HD, but you should love what you ride whatever it is!

Thank God for Victory. Harleys are an american icon and I love everything american. But Victory just killed all the competition out there. You have to face reality.HD's are way over priced and break too often. And costly repairs they are.

You know it's kind of funny. Most people have their favorite brand of bike and they like to talk smack about the other brands. I say ride what you like and enjoy it. I don't have the money to go out and buy a Harley or a Victory I would if I did. So I will be content to ride my 99 Goldwing it's paid for and never has left me on the side of the road so far. I'm busy enjoying the ride to care if some other guy can get to the next stop light before I do. My bike was built in Marysville, Ohio by American workers. I think all brands have good and bad points so I guess it's a matter of opinion on with brand is better than another one. I say to each his or her own and keep riding and enjoy the ride.

in 1951 I built a basket case 68 cube stroked HD out of a 74 and 61 barrels. I turned 126 in the 1/4 and 144 in the mile. I had to block off 1st gear so I was not left on my ass at the Lights. I could shift from 3rd to 4th doing about 95 and do an 14 -16 in wheel y. I think if you guys can wrench than you can talk about the good and the bad. Your ride is your soul so ride carefully. I had a "Speedy shift and Kong ignition, She ran just under 12 to 1 compression. It was a bitch to kick start.

For clarification - I have a 110 Harley - 15k on it - never broke down - love it, great looks, great sound so hard for me to understand all the Harley bashing. I don't know much about the Harley in this video or the rider but just watching I can easily out perform this bike. I have put my HP and torque on this post before - it gets dislikes and complaints. It doesn't change what my bike is putting out - it is tuned on a dyno every year at the start of season so it is what it is despite the doubters. Joe - what gear was he in at 126 mph - just curious. I can hit 90 in third on my Harley - few Harley's can do this and I am shifting in the 5,500 to 6,000 RPM range.

I don't see what the big deal is with Harleys. I've ridden them before along with yamahas, hondas, victorys, and Indians. Honestly there was nothing special about the harley. Nothing about having HD on the bike made me like it any more than the others. Not to mention the fact that they are the bikes that are on the bench the most at the shop. I mean, ride whatever you like, but there's no point in bashing other peoples bikes if they don't say HD on them.

I didn't buy my Harley to street race. I bought it for the reasons Victory will never be what Harley is.... Nostalgic and iconic. No denying Victory puts out a decent bike but they, like all the others, are followers. Besides, if I wanted to race people I would buy a FAST bike, not a Harley OR Victory.

Haha. Hey "John Walsh" I always wear a helmet and ballistic jacket when I'm doing crazy things on a motorcycle (ie drag racing). I'm the pilot of the Vic in the video. And to answer another comment somewhere upstream, the HD did have pipe as well as a full race 110 cube engine, you just can't hear it over the Vics shorty exhausts.

I am glad Polaris is a multi billion dollar company that owns victory and Indian motorcycles. whether you like it or not competition is good for all of us. The only reason Harley went with multi piston calipers in 2000 was because in 1999 victory had it! Harley fans should love that, but y did it take so long for them to do it themselves? I don't think they were in a hurry for better braking. victory is a 50 degree 4 valve counterbalanced engine, Indian 49 degree 2 valve engine and there both air and oil cooled. imagine putting a jacket around the piston sleeves. the twin cams run hot not like my evolution! rear cylinder shutdown, and water cooling exhaust valve only in head is a patch! i'm no engineer but, I have enough sense to know cast iron cylinders hold heat, when they came out with the evolution with aluminum cylinders with steel liners, it was a great cost effective move. even AMF could of done something like that! enjoy what's happening to all the domestic company's its only going to get better!!!! peace out

It's not only a 110 Dyna, that machine has a power commander, exhausts and a tuned intake, cam and pistons, about 6k in aftermarket, and is plenty loud when he hits the go button. Mine drowns it out with the twin shorties. It's a great machine, but hard to make a 2 valve pushrod engine run with an overhead cam 4 valve. Add t the exhausts & remap, it's a fast MC. Check the video of the run against an R1. I shut down after the launch bc I missed 1st to 2nd, but it shows the power of the engine

In the end I am glad I didn't go with the Victory as not too long after Brooklyn Victory went out of business. Lack of dealerships is going to kill this brand, in my opinion. If you are a weekend, local rider you may never need anyone but your local dealer. If you're like me then you need dealers all over.

Looking at the dyno numbers for both engines easily explains the outcome of this video. HD's web site shows the SE 110 at only 95 ft.lbs of torque and 81 HP to the rear wheel. The stock Victory 100 ci engine creates 106 ft.lbs of torque and 85 HP to the rear wheel before the stage 1 exhaust. The dry weight on both bikes is about the same. The fact that the Victory 100 ci engine has 4 valves per cylinder provides the increase in horsepower and torque to out muscle the 110 SE from HD.

It was about 6,500 in engine work and I have added a lot of chrome as well. Looks great, sounds great. The response from others is always the same - you spent more money. Yes I did but its like comparing a Corvette to a Camero. The guy with the Corvette spent a lot more than the Camero guy but has a higher performance ride.

Nothing like a beautiful spring day, taking the bike out and "Tuggin" against some dude, hopefully on anothe type of bike. That's the best. Victory owners are annoying. Every time there is a HD/Vic comparison, Vic owners just continually have prove how there Vic is superior over HD and most haven't ever even owned a HD. When I go to HD website/forums they never talk about Vic's, but when you go to Vic anything they are always trying to prove how superior the Vic is. Just because a bike has more power doesn't mean its better. I've never owned a Vic or a HD and all I know is when it comes to fit and finish HD wins hands down.

No, I am saying that Harley has dealerships all over the place, just in case you need it. What good is a warranty if there are no dealers to service the bike? You carry insurance on your bike hoping not to use it but just in case you need it, it is there. Get a flat with a Victory in Green River UT. BTW Liberty Harley has a 2012 Vegas 8 Ball with 602 miles on it for sale,

Couple of things; 1) Joe Momma and guys like him aren't worth a response. Punks that respond with mouthy remarks typically don't even ride. But if he's all that, he can bring his big mouth into the shop and try it out on me, we'll have us a good time. 2) The Vics are a higher end motorcycle than the V Star line and run a little more, but they're rated by JD Powers and associates as the #1 most reliable two wheel machine on the planet for last 8 years running. Check i-net preowned for a Kingpin

I agree...I love 2 wheels period. I wave and ride with anyone on 2 wheels, or 3 really, and I own a Yamaha VStar 1100 Custom and a Fatboy LO. Looking at Victory as well because of their design improvements but stay away due to the looks do not suit my tastes well. I buy bikes based on about %65 emotion and feeling %35 intellect, value per dollar...My truck moves my butt and my bikes move my soul. That purchase model works for me, buy yours based on what works for you and lets go ride together.

I wanted a Harley at one point, and then I realized that Victory produces bikes that are lighter, better looking, more reliable, more powerful, and better priced. When you buy a Harley, you are paying ALOT for that name on the side of your tank. What you get is an underpowered, overweight bike that is based on an old design and seldom updated.

As a Harley rider it almost pains me to say this but, Vic is a better bike. The HD culture, heritage, and cult (if I may) that makes the HD what it is. Harley has endured generations, wars, and civil movements, and is more popular today than any time in history. There is no truer feeling of the road than on a Harley that is air-cooled. BTW: I’m a Triumph rider until 6 years ago when I went to buy the Vic 8-Ball. A friend of mine suggested I “throw a leg over a Harley”…it was almost Spiritual.

For the record as far as Harley maintenance goes, my buddy has had a 2007 HD ultra Classic for years now and every other time he rides it, it breaks down and/or over heats... and I'm not just saying that to favor either the HD or Victory because I ride a Kawasaki Ninja zx6r as a neutral party here. First, too bad the camera work was so bad, but I think that was on purpose. It does not appear, from what I could see that there was even a vrod in this video. And, it certainly doesn't sound like a vrod, it sounds more like a twin cam. But . . . . when you set up a video shoot with a specific purpose in mind, it's extremely easy to get the results you want. All that being said, the Victor MCs just don't have much resale value. They're primarily a throwaway bike.

So a Victory Dealer supports street drag racing, and they want me to beleive that someone put all that money into a Screaming Eagle Engine but left the stock pipes on the bike. I am just not that gullible! Most Harley riders replace that stock pipe as thier first purchase if they want better sound and more power from the bike. If you are going to compare bikes at least be honest about what you are comparing!

You love you HD and that's a great thing. Great motorcycles and mostly American built. But that race is what it is - not a biggy. We ran twice because he claimed I jumped the flag on the first run. It looks like I did on the 2nd run as well but that Vic just leaves a lot harder than the HD. BTW, the guy doing the flagging confirmed I left after the drop both times, but I didn't want my buddy claiming I cheated. He conceded, then rode my R1 for the next race. Yeah I'm a good buddy to have.

Since Harley only makes large displacement cruisers and now medium size displacement bikes, they turned to Porsche to design the v rod and street 750 and 500 because they don't have enough mechanical engineers, or pay enough for the right team. go easy on me, I love my FXR lowrider. Yamaha makes a pretty decent engine in the raider. pushrods 2 valves forged one piece crank plain babbit bearings, its 48 degrees, side by side connecting rods, and sounds good. maybe Harley should tear one apart and make it better for them. they could save a lot of money in engineering that they don't want to spend.

Here is a challenge for you. Type in "Victory vs Harley" and find me a video where the Harley wins! HA!

That looked more like a hole shot to me than outperformance. And why do so many people gauge what is authentic biker by comparing it to 81? If you can't make your own decision, just quit what you are doing and do something else. The problem with Victory, aside from being an undercover foreign bike is that it's styling is a cross between disco-Ness mated with OCC crap. It makes it kinda hard to personalize a bike that is over the top with it's swoopy lines. They all look exactly alike.

@TheReaISlacker Two things to consider, they are racing comparable cruisers, not rice burners, but if you want to eat your words, search for the Victory jack pot "cruiser" that EATS an R1 "super bike" Even I could not believe it.

They look like stock pipes in the video and thats what they sound like - you can here them they just aren't loud and not as deep a pitch as a tuned aftermarket pipe. I am using a Vance and Hines tuned pro stock two into one. All I know is that Harley does not sound or run anything like mine. I have a 110R with a four stage cam and Screaming Eagle chip dyno tuned to almost 130 HP. My bike when its sits idling is vibrating much harder than the bike in the video so its hard for me to beleive!

110" Harleys are not much quicker than a 96" , it needs to be in a Dyna to be quick . I'm a Harley owner but I am disapointed in the SE 110" to .

@themaxrlder You sound like one of those envoius Victory Ryders I leave at the line. And I am not sure where you live but it sounds like an interesting neighborhood where people dress like pirates and ride Harleys. I am sure you fit right in.

HDLRyder The max rider is a complete moron, I'm pretty certain he doesn't even have a motorcycle, let alone ride one. he is probably just an armchair warrior who reads a lot of technical info and watches videos then spews bullshit on KZbin. total windbag.

Harleys aren't made for speed. Drag racing a Harley is like taking a one legged man to an ass kicking contest. They are cruisers, and they do that very well.

Sooooooo, Victory bikes are made for speed and drag racing? Or you just don't know what the hell you're talking about and are swinging on Harley's nuts like a brainwashed company shill? Which is it?

Mark Scott on his Victory Vegas in Houston this past weekend. 126mph in the quarter, 146 in the half mile and capable of more, but the ECU was cutting out at just above 5,000 rpm. Will probably top out at 165 in the half once the ECU limiter is reset. i will never get why you guys try to prove these bikes are fast. it's like racing buses. i love all bikes but have been on harleys for a decade. the last crotch rocket i owned could probably be beat by a moped in this day and age. but i digress. to each his own. both those bikes kicked ass (in my opinion).

I just dont understand how Harley expects their bikes to be the best when they charge their customers $350 for an oil change. Not to mention if you dont go through their overpriced shop work theyll find a way to void your warranty.

Respect because you ride a Harley Davidson? Man please. Actually I respect anybody that rides PERIOD. I don't care if its Harley, Victory, Japanese, Brit, whatever. I actually ride with a bunch of guys that ride Harley, and every time we stop it seems everyone is interested in the Vic. But I don't get caught up in that. You just don't see a Vic every 1/8 of a mile like you do Harley and I like that.

..umm.....105 years of perfection???? and they still look the same as they did in 1960. Plus they don't have near the stock horse power of a victory. Victory has done, in 10 years, what Harley could only dream of doing. Victory's customer base just continues to rise and rise, while we keep on taking leaky Harleys on trade. compare the 8-Ball and Night Train.....the choice is obvious.
