i got out of these software names months ago. Just mostly in semis and big tech, software is brutal!

It sounds like NVIDIA is working with Dell to shrink the footprint of AI servers to make it more palatable for smaller companies to just own their own hardware in their own small data center while continue to make its AI software more easy for small companies to program their own data and AI solutions. The issue is that although NVIDIA will create software markets, it will also disrupt those same markets. It will also suck all the best talent in AI away from startups. In the long term, AI agents remain a major variable that can't be accounted for in this market. With increasing compute and innovation, advanced AI should be able to outright replace many of the services of these kinds of companies. Unless they are on the leading bleeding edge, they're going to get leapfrogged and possibly be the first to lose their jobs to AI.

I'm a technologist and we use snowflake but only as a very limited use case, when it comes to specifically data and A.I. most are simply using AWS S3 for the ingestion layer and PostgreSQL for the vector store / data store layers.

Good episode as always. I’m taking the opposite view. SNOW is close to its 2022 bear market bottom long before AI took off. The RSI on a lot of software stocks is off the charts bad. The sells off on eps seem maybe warranted but the balance sheets of a lot of these companies are great and their value against fcf is pretty appealing. I think 12 months from now you’ll be happy you kept your positions in a lot of the software names.

I was really surprised when I heard that Berkshire Hathaway had attended Snowflake IPO. Because Warren Buffet always tends to avoid IPOs. In fact, the last time Warren Buffett participated in an IPO, Dwight Eisenhower was the president of the United States. Anyway, because Warren had big expectations from Snowflake, I was expecting very positive returns from Snowflake too. My thoughts have not changed about Snowflake for the long term.

I agree with most of what you said. However, you didn't talk about the issue caused by declining margins and rising costs. You constantly mentioned that the market currently prefers better margins, but we're not concerned with short-term stock movements. And if SNOW generates enough free cash flow to cover all its expenses, why does it matter so much that margins are decreasing? Given that revenue growth remains quite acceptable considering the macro situation. The only apparent issues at the moment are compensation, declining revenue growth, competition, and still high valuation. But these problems have existed for some time, and even though growth has slowed, so has the price. I think an initial buy position is justified here. However, I'm not sure if just for monitoring purposes it is enough; I actually think it makes more sense to build around 30% of the full position, because none of the company's vision have changed, I would say.

Truly insightful 🎉, however I already passed on this stock, because it doesn’t meet my financial metrics standards. I’ve made my own score system and put the system of financial metrics and considerations of future product pipeline and profit has really maxing my gains.

Giving more insights about company moat. Salesforce is the market leader for multiple software segments , CRM market share is huge and adoption of AI already happening considering network effect . This won’t change for long term. Mulesoft is a gartner market leader for data and API integration. Tableau is the market leader for data visualization . Finally, Slack is the main competitor for microsoft teams and used frequently on big organizations like IBM , Oracle Etc . That’s why they wanted to acquire informatica to complete the suite for ETL ( data transformation) and data governance and i think this is the reason why it’s was going down because big investors didn’t want the company to continue acquisitions and focus on enhancing profitability
