Wow, that was incredible! I've always liked those racing carts. Like little F1 cars, they are so fast and nimble. But I have never seen a cart race from a POV camera. Amazing. Thanks for posting this! I'm a former bicycle racer (was in the sport 25+ years). Not quite the same, of course, but I really got into the drafting and cutting the apex of the curves, etc, in your race.

Hey Boatman if you would please tell me more. I recently stumbled upon an old kart frame and chassis unlike any shifter carts I see on you tube. It has a big gas tank on the side and is designed to run two belt driven motors on both sides in the back. I have no idea what kind of motors to use or where to find them. I'm assuming twin two stroke centrifugal clutch motors. Can you point me in a direction? Thank you

My older brother began racing a Mac 5 when he was 10 years old back in 1958. He won every race it seems and his room was jammed pack with trophies. He stopped racing when he was about 15. I was five years younger, so never got the chance, but there were no minimum weights to meet (and he only weighed about 70-105 pounds over that 6 year period) and he raced with adults. Women raced in a separate class called the Powder Puff class.

Hello Sean, Having raced with WKA & Woodbridge for 15 years in Enduros. i have been to Mid Ohio before & as many classes it would seem your viewers don;t understand the fact you not racing the 250s or the Enduros just the guys in your class. You did a fine job out there & i am surprised to see you dispatch many of the 250s . With 125ccs you should outrun the Enduros with the KT100s. Nice racing & though i got out of the sport in 2007 i had plenty of great times especially at Summit Point. Both clubs are not doing as well as they should but by the comments perhaps it's best they just watch as many seem quite clueless as to seperate classes & the fact your running well over 100 MPH & not 40 as one guy seemed to think. Don't like stepping on toes but it sure helps to understand what your watching. Best of luck in the future & if you don't already know Summit Point has been completely resurfaced from the ground up & the lap times are dropping like flies. The record there in a sports racer is now 1;006 . The Kart record is by Andy Kiker who you may know ,he turned 1;10. The few times i've been to Mid Ohio were fantastic except one race was in the rain & not so much fun. Thanks for sharing your helmet cam vid.

Glen I would highly recommend getting into racing in a Shifter Kart. Stock Honda refers to the engine. This one was a 2001 stock 125cc Honda motor. It is specified as stock in the class name because they are moderately modifiable. If you are to run a modded Honda engine, it is usually run in the more generic shifter class

@@chestermcdaniel106 so you don't need to use clutch when shifting because the gears are straight cut? How so?
@stevebussard5 жыл бұрын
@@Slisktord constant mesh transmissions. All motorcycles (and shifter karts using motorcycle engines) have them. You just blip the throttle up shifting and do your best to throttle match downshifting to prevent skids. The clutch is only for starting from a stop. Motorcycles (mostly dirt bikes) use the clutch for traction control. You could do the same with a shifter kart, but it's not typically needed.
@Slisktord5 жыл бұрын
@@stevebussard okey, but in the long run, won't that be really bad for the gearbox if you don't match it perfectly every time?
@stevebussard5 жыл бұрын
@@Slisktord no. It's a constant mesh transmission. All the gears are already meshing together. The only item that can be damaged is the shift fork, and that is only damaged by forcing the gear changes without letting off the throttle. I've raced road bikes, street bikes, and shifter karts for 21 years. I've damaged one shift fork in that time, and it was done showing off, doing power wheelies, and forcing gear shifts. I've never had a gearbox failure of any kind. These transmissions are designed to be shifted without the use of a clutch. It's just like a sequential gear box in a rally car. They only use the clutch for starts as well.

S Lit A Tote Goat was made to be able to carry a hunter,rifles and perhaps a game up and down mountains and had about 5 or eight hp , mini tractor tires and low gearing. Not even close to a mini bike which sat a foot or so shorter and not as hulky... Kinda like an off road Cushman Eagle is closer to the truth. Similarly the Honda Trail 50cc and up were to do the same. So, l would imagine that about twenty five mph was close to top speed. Certainly the shifters is faster. Some of us recall the history. I believe you’re referring to the Trail -Breaker 2 wheels driving all terrain motorcycles made popular by Rokon.

What age is required to drive these?

Caleb Stevens That’s a good question. I’m not really sure because every organization has different rules. The organization that I started with, you had to be 14. But I didn’t start driving shifter karts until I was 17 or 18. But anyway it all depends on the organization

Why are the karts with bodywork so much slower in the turns?
