Start questioning yourself, man. How will the taxes be considered as profits taken away by the government? They're a source of revenue to meet the administration of the state. While GST is a charge for consumers, IT will be a charge on gains made. Don't question her IQ levels. She answered it very smartly, by saying that a partner cannot discuss profit making in public.

I have a small restaurant When i buy raw materials i pay 12 percent gst When i sell good i pay 5 percent to govt Then i pay GST and TDS over shop rent Whatever profit i make is also taxed at 30 percent And mind you i dont get any setoffs against amy of the above Please can any ca help me how to sett off any of these taxes

Her answer may seem witty but not Acceptable from the FM. Trader is the last man of the food chain of stock market. FII has a face, DII has a face, Exchange has face, Broker has face but Trader has no face.,no identity. But it is only because of him NSE boasts of biggest exchange (in terms of contracts) in the world. It is unfortunate that FM who is in the responsible position does not have answer. If she does not have even time to think over it, why she should be even be there?

India is the only country where a trader pays tax for losses in the form of STT. Even though I don't lose in trading I have to pay STT which is my loss and can be classified as business loss or capital loss. It should be treated as TDS and refund should be given. Will FM look into this in this budget.
