Best Practice: Try to per-cut the plywood to fit each window/door ahead of time. Then use paint or a Sharpie to label each one for its intended location. If there is no power you won’t have to scramble to figure out a way to cut the plywood. Also, this makes executing your plans much faster allowing more time to move on to other prep priorities in an emergency.

Great list and tips! Definitely some things I know but I always need reminders and I like the yearly pre-winter prep/stock idea.

His recommendations are excellent, I follow him from Kentucky. Listening to him speak, I thought that if his water well installed a manual pump, power outages would not be a problem, to obtain the precious liquid. I wish him many successes, I like his videos a lot. and the way it deals with the issues.

Aquatainers are okay but in my experience they don't last long. I've started replacing them with the usgi cans from Scepter, much higher quality.

Yes they become brittle and start cracking and breaking .

I know! Me too! 😀 it’s on my wish list! I do have a gas generator which will power the well though!

One of my winter preps is to keep a couple 5 gal. Buckets of water in my wood stove heated shop to be able to flush the commode if we have a temporary power outage and the well pump isn’t working.

If you've got a well, then you should have water anytime you want, right? Can't you run your well pump off a generator if it's wired correctly?
@idahoprepper Жыл бұрын
Yes, it can.. and I do have a generator. But it sometimes has issues running all the utilities in our house.. something else I need to work on! Thanks for watching!

Do research on Mr buddy heater hoses to connect to a 20lb tank. Most Mr heater brand hoses actually leach oil from the hose and clog the Mr buddy . If you look up KZbin videos on the subject they will show you what SKU hose to Purchase . Some of the Mr buddy hoses will not leach oils.
